Another favorite series of mine! Ignore the description on the back of the manga - it doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what this series is about. Sand Chronicles tracks the lives of four friends as they grow from children into adulthood, how they grow apart and come back together time and time again. It's not overdramatic, it's not wild. It's real. I can't even begin to say how many times I paused while reading and thought to myself, "I remember feeling that way when I was that age." Hinako Ashiahara beautifully captured all the struggles and uncertainty of growing up. You really get a strong feel for each of the main characters. The art is lovely and compliments the soft, if somewhat meloncholy, feel to the story. This is a series that I have already read a few times after having it for just over a year or so, and will definitely reread over and over.
