When I decided to watch Paprika I had no idea what kind of twisted awesomeness I was going to witness. I got interested in it because I had seen the intro for it before and liked the art style and music. After watching the movie I felt mindblown... It's a very unique movie and when you have seen it, it cannot be unseen. It will be stuck in your mind for a good while...
Story:
I gave the story a "7.5" because even if it's an amazing story, it can at times be hard to understand since the movie is moving at a fast pace with stuff happening all the time everywhere. I recommend watching the movie two times, as I myself feel that I should do since I always can be a little slow with getting the story in movies. Paprika's (the movie) story is a bit difficult but the film makers pulled it well off, I have to say.
Animation (Or rather "Visual"):
While the animation is good, with mixing 2D and 3D animation and all, the visuals of this movie is purely amazing. I really love the art style used, as I said earlier, and the colours used. The colourful surroundings makes the movie a bit disturbing when something scary happens, it makes it feel so very surreal, like you were actually dreaming, or watching a dream at least. I like how you in the beginning of the movie easily can tell the dreams from the real world and as the movie goes on it gets harder and harder to tell the dreams and reality apart.
Characters:
The characters of this movie feels, as you may have guessed; unique. They are all very different and to express it simply, they are good characters. I don't have much more to say.
My rating is 8.5 of 10.
Thank you for taking your time to read through my review. :) This is my first review for anime-planet.com and my mother language isn't english so there may be misspellings or poor grammar involved, sorry for that. ^^' // LunarNeko
