If you're talking about a manga char it's from a cover, right? In that case let's use it - if you can find a bigger image and crop it yourself that's even better. For manga there aren't as many options.

Basically it's not necessary to add an alternate name if it's already a part of the original. For example, if someone searched for 'Ryu', they'd find the character based on his real name. If his other name was something weird, or spelled differently or something, it would make sense to add as an alternate (or searchable - searchable is just if we want people to be able to find the character in the search, but the name isn't important enouhg to post publicly)

An exception to this is if there's a really common alternate name that isn't just a substring of the original - for example if he was called Master Ryu by a lot of chars, that would be a good alternate to add because 'master ryu' isn't a substring of the main name.
