Who I am

I'm 26, male, student and into Anime since summer 2011

First Anime

Dragonball, One Piece and Naruto on TV first, then Elfen LiedVampire Hunter D Bloodlust and various Ghibli movies. Since then I'm pretty much hooked.

What I watch

I can enjoy pretty much everything except shonen-ai. I try to keep up with the new interesting shows, movies and OVAs. Simultaniously I go back chronologicaly on the anime timeline watching the good stuff I missed year-wise. Nowadays I don't watch nearly as much as before, back then I often hit 36 episodes a day. Today I try to be really selective and filter out the quality entertainment.

Favourite Animation Studios

SHAFT, P.A. Works, ufotable, Kyotoanimation, Madhouse, Gainax (Trigger)

Favourite Anime

Check my 4.5 and 5 star ratings.

Favourite Manga

I don't enjoy scans as much as having a book in my hands, so I have a huge physical manga collection (almost over 1k)

BerserkBlade of the Immortal, Hunter X Hunter, GTO, Lone Wolf & Cub, work of Osamu Tezuka

Other things I like

I also like ero doujinshi, recently I started to collect anime figures (but I don't have much money for this atm), occasionally eroge and western pc games.

Yes! Midori definitely sounds like somehting I'd love, though I'll probably end up reading the manga instead of watching it, especially if the anime version is cut somehow. Suehiro Maruo's art is gorgeous- I have no idea how someone can make entrails look that pretty ^_^

Hi LoliTsundere,

I saw the first two Berserk films at an anime film festival (Scotland Loves Anime). They blew my mind. It was particularly special because staff from the production team came to join us and I got a signed bit of cheap merchandise. I am goign to wait for the DVDs before I see the third one. I want to make sure I give them my  money. Hopefully that will encourage them to continue the plot. I heard they would be continuing it. So cross fingers.

Hi LoliTsundere,

That's great to hear that you are at least enjoying it, even if it's slow going. As you head into the final arc, I think you'll continue to be pleasantly surprised. The slight change in tone shouldn't ruin any of the good parts. Just the plot finally comes to a head.

If you do fancy more magical girl but want a serialised plot (26 eps), then I highly recommend Princess Tutu. It's eschews the classic episodic format and goes for a really intense and beautifully animated, atmospheric sort of product. It looks as cute as CCS, but it is dark in ways that will surprise you. And again, the characters develop fantastically. It's overall a much better work than CCS while avoiding its pitfalls.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. That makes me feel a bit more confident about recommending it to this other person. It's a tough one because it is so long and the middle can take its toll, but I found it had an unbeatable charm that made it a must-watch for those interested in shoujo.

Hi LoliTsundere,

This will be a little bit odd. But you left a message on my CCS review (a couple of years ago!) asking whether you think it'd be worth your time to continue with the show. I notice you are now at episdoe 46. Presumably you stalled? I'm just wondering, what you are thinking of it now that you're much further in. CCS came up recently in my thoughts because I'm recommending it to someone. For me, the show's strengths were enough to keep me going, and the pay-off at the end is great. But what has the viewing experience been like for you?
