My view on anime:
I love watching anime for some of the amazing stories you can get in the genre that you won't find in most live-action films. I believe that this is partly due to the fact that the anime creator has a near limitless choice of topics and artistic styles due to the lack of constraints that accompany living actors. Furthermore, i believe that "suspension of disbelief" is easier to maintain in this medium. And on a more basic level: anime is a welcomed escape from the tedium of constant med school lectures :)
Oh, and as a general rule for myself, I don't usually watch animes that have over 50ish episodes. If you can't tell a good complete story in 50 episodes, then there is probably a ton of filler for the purpose of making $$$ on a popular series. One notable exception is Monster, which I have to thank VivisQueen for recommending to me; it was so worth it!
