Guilty Crown

Jan 8, 2017

Guilty Crown?? More like Code Geass 0.1! hahahahhahaha

But for reals now. We start of with the protagonist Shu, a normal high schooler, who loves this band Egoist. Everyone does, although I don't quite get why, it's avarage at best. So, by the expected chain of events, he somehow saves lead singer of Egoist, Inori. And on top of that gets a wierd power, ability to draw swords (literaly) from underaged individuals, called The Power of Kings. It's just as cringe as it sounds. So he joins the rebelion or whatever this guys have and fights a bit. He's faced with dilema mid trough the fight - which obviously displays that you cannot save everyone. Thank Jesus. They have something like "final" fight and then the first arc ends... If I have learned anything from watching anime, it is that they somehow manage to fuck up everything after 1st arc. Holy shit, can't you just conclude the anime. U save money and it stays good (more like avarage in this case though). Win-win.

Fun fact. Egoist is a real band. Look it up.

Back to the thing. I liked the second arc more than first one. "But Senpai, then why are you bitching about it?" Oh you naive bastard, you don't want to know. But it's too late now, I'm provoked. To be more specific I liked the motives and thoughts more, but overall it was worse, especially becouse of the ending. Oh, that ending. But we'll get back to that. You remember how LeLouch had that "bad guy for great cause" part, well here it's "bad guy just for fun" part, and it drags a bit more. Again, personally I liked it. Having offstream main character is a rarity and I appreciate every bit I can get, but conclusion of that part was so poor - at the idea level at least - that it totaly shook me. As you could predict - Shu gets cringe again. :(

Still thinking about that Code Geass? Good. You know how it had the most epic ending ever, becouse of which you felt emptiness for weeks. You'll get over this one. It's hard to say more without spoiling, so I'll keep it at that.

Overall I would only recommend this anime to those who haven't seen Code Geass. And to all who have - this is just strait up worse remake.

7/10 story
8/10 animation
10/10 sound
3/10 characters
4/10 overall
