Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge

Feb 13, 2011

This review is a combined review of the first and the second season, if you haven't watched them both, be careful. There may be spoilers. I'll mark the chapters with possible spoilers with the *. I really should stop picking animes based on their synopsis. When I stumbled across Arakawa, I was looking for a romantic comedy (with the emphasis on Romance) and the synopsis made Arakawa sound something totally different. I realized my mistake from the first 5 minutes (to be specific I think it happened at the 3 minute and 32 second mark),  but by then it was too late for me. I knew I could... See full review

Princess Tutu

Oct 30, 2011

This review is an old review transferred from another site I posted it in. I have tweaked it a little to fit more in the context of this site. So if you think you have seen this review before, it's possible, though unlikely since it didn't get that many views. Anime Review: Princess Tutu Sometimes I scare myself. Why do I pick animes, which are obviously made for target audience that I'm not even close to. A long time ago, I watched Full Moon wo Sagashite, which was definitely made for little girls due to it having cute characters, plot consisting of wanting to sing and a weird absence of all... Gosick

Sep 20, 2011

Gosick is one of those animes that you have to go in with a pre-tuned mindset. At first, I was underwhelmed by the anime and judged it on my mind as another one of these kinds of anime. I almost lost interest in it initially. Which would have been a colossal lost in my part as towards the end, the anime becomes one of the best examples of storytelling and character development.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves. Like I said, the anime starts very slowly and very confusingly. The first episodes don't seem to have any connecting plot besides establishing the characters. And since the anime... See full review

Den-noh Coil

So if you think you have seen this review before, it's possible, though unlikely since it didn't get that many views. Anime Review: Dennou Coil Sci-fi has always been close to my heart, but sci-fi animes have not really given me any kind of deep impact. Most of them are just silly excuses to have mechas or robot maids in them, both which cause me a lot of headache (namely for banging my head on the wall). Dennou Coil is different however. It's one of the... See full review

Hell Girl

This review is an old review transferred from another site I posted it in. I have tweaked it a little to fit more in the context of this site. So if you think you have seen this review before, it's possible, though unlikely since it didn't get that many views. This review is basically about both the first season and Futakomori. At the time I wrote this Mitsuganae had not yet been out, nor even hinted of. I really thought Jikugo Shoujo would end at Futakomori, since it all seemed to end so neatly. I should never underestimate Enma Ai (or the entertainment business for that matter).

You and Me.

Mar 7, 2012

From the get go, Kimi to Boku felt weird. The cast didn't act like normal boys would, but instead they acted very girly. In the very first episode they are even brushing the hair of one of the boys. Men don't do that. It's like they are acting how women, who have no clue, think how men act when they are amongst themselves. So from the start, this felt more like a young girls fantasy than an actual slice-of-life anime, which made it harder for me to follow. But I persevered.

And what I found was a traditional slice-of-life, not about boys or girls, but about archetypes. There is the traditional... See full review

Ergo Proxy

So if you think you have seen this review before, it's possible, though unlikely since it didn't get that many views. Anime Review: Ergo Proxy Recently, after watching dozen of animes with plotlines and scenes so silly that my mental state became questionable, I took a leave of absence from anime and focused on reality. Well, movies actually, but they are as close to reality as I dare to go. It did not help. Sure, I watched some surprisingly good films... See full review

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Nov 19, 2010

This review is an old review transferred from another site I posted it in. I have tweaked it a little to fit more in the context of this site. So if you think you have seen this review before, it's possible, though unlikely since it didn't get that many views. Anime Review: Code Geass and Code Geass R2 At first, let me tell you that Code Geass was the first anime ever to make me confused about whom I should root for. Never before have any anime (not even Death Note) managed to make me love and hate the main character so vigorously like Code Geass did. It all started the same way as Death Note... See full review

ItaKiss

Nov 16, 2010

Shoujo anime is not my favorite genre, but I do enjoy it every now and then. Skip Beat for example is still one of my favorites (and I'm still waiting for the second season to it) and Full Moon wo Sagashite was also very heartwarming anime. Most of the time though, Shoujo anime is the one genre that causes me most headache. Headache, which is caused by a huge amount of facepalms. Itazura na Kiss was luckily one of the animes that had a lot less facepalm moments so in the end of it, I walked away without a headache. Though it was 6:00 AM at that time, because I watched the entire series in one sitting, so... See full review

Vampire Knight

Apr 13, 2010

In my last blog I mentioned that I would give my impressions on a few animes that I saw recently. Ill start with Vampire Knight & Vampire Knight Guilty as I have a lot to say about it. This is not a real review, just my thoughts of it. I know that this anime is not aimed for me. Well I know that now, but at the time I had no idea what it was about. Vampire Knight saga could be described as an anime equivalent of Twilight saga (you know, the movies that all girls go crazy about these days). I watched the first Twilight movie and never really liked it (shocking I know). I think it's mainly... See full review

Clannad After Story

Mar 26, 2010

*Those who want to avoid spoilers should stop reading here as there are major spoilers ahead throughout the review* From reading people's reviews and recommendations, and the fact that Clannad After Story is ranked 2nd in all of the animes here in Anime Planet, I was expecting an anime that would leave such an impression on me that I couldn't stop thinking about it afterwards. The kind what Code Geass left me with. Instead, I'm left with a hollow feeling. A feeling that will stick with me for a long time. A feeling of disappointment. Yeah, you heard right. I can't see this as a glorious example of anime... See full review
