I first saw Voices of a Distant Star in a movie theatre full of people. Most of them were crying by the end. Sadness, emptiness, waiting, love stretched out to the point of breaking. That’s what this short movie is about. Space travel, time lapse and evil aliens come to destroy humans? Not important. Giant mechas, families and growing up? Not important. A message travelling through space for years and years? Important. There is nothing remarkable in the visual on musical side of this anime.
