No, I am being dead serious with that. Sorry for my late reply, been kinda of busy. I detest Imocho in all its' forms. Why, what did you think of it?
While cliches are fairly common, there are good ways to use them and bad ways to use them. Taking cliches that have been used thousand of times already and mixing them together is nothing more than trying to fool the viewers that they're doing something new with it. That's a bad way of using cliches. The characters don't feel real, because they're just copy-paste of a certain tropes, without any real thought put behind them.
The good way of using cliches can be seen in shows like FMA: Brotherhood. Edward Elric is a cliche, Winry is a cliche, Mustang is a cliche etc. But they are fleshed out, they are cliche and more, not just a cliche. They act in a way tha plausible human being could act, while in Valvrave they act solely in one-dimensional way that a cliche would act.
