K-On!

Jun 29, 2020

K-On! is as close to perfect as any anime I've seen in a long time. It's a beautiful slice-of-life style series that follows the high school girls of the Light Music Club as they both form a band and form friendships. Sometimes the show is almost too sweet and if you are at all sentimental (I am!) there are no shortage of episodes that will bring a tear to you eye - in a good way! Fun, funny, cute, wholesome and all around awesome, K-On! is a must watch for anyone who likes slice-of-life style anime.

One-Punch Man

May 29, 2020

One Punch Meh. Honestly, I'm not sure what I expected. Every description of this show to me warned me I should stay away but so many people love it. So many people told me to watch it. So many ratings and reviews talk about how incredible it is. But for me, it simply isn't. Maybe this is a fine anime. Maybe for people who like action it's great. But for people who like stories this doesn't seem to have an interesting one to tell. On Netflix, the desription says something like "The most powerful superhero in the world can kill anything with just one punch. Which is frankly pretty boring." and... See full review

My Hero Academia

May 30, 2019

It's tough for me to understand why this show gets so much praise. It's a shallow superhero anime where the characters in the first season are so one dimensional that it's hard to care about them. Some of the heroes have cool abilities and maybe in time it developes into a good coming of age anime staring kids with cool powers. But the way it starts is very action oriented and not very character driven. If you are fine with that, this might be up your alley. As for me, I've seen enough animes with unnecesarrily angry rivals and protagonists who are pure of heart but devoid of personality. I won't watch... See full review

The Familiar of Zero

Nov 26, 2012

My goodness this show is painful to watch.  I began watching Zero no Tsukaima because it was one of the recomended links after I enjoyed Toradora! but I really don't understand why.  The premise is promising enough, and it looks okay too but the characters are so shallow that the show is completely boring. Each of the characters is a perfect anime stereotype, without even the usual subtle variations to keep them engaging.  The main character is the blushing boy whom all the ladies lust after.  The heroine is noisy and violent.  The other shallow charachters in the harem include...
