And blog number two! There's a few things I feel like talking about, so I'll get right to it.
They kind of annoy me. I know Sothis didn't want them for good reasons. Almost every single anime on the site is rated 3 and above. It's impossible to actually use them to get an idea about how good a show is. Even Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, the worst anime in the world-a piece of crap in every way- has a 2.5! I wish chose her original idea-only a certain number of people could affect the average rating. That way you still get a bunch of people's opinions, but not too many that it averges out to 3 every time! But noooooo, users hated that idea because they were scared they would be left out -.- Too many people rate all the shows they watch higher than they need to be. They don't really think about what they're rating, and how it compares to other shows.
Which brings me to this point: Your average ratings (shown on your profile) should look like a bell curve (lots in the middle, few on the outside). If you notice 90% of your ratings are 4 and 5 stars, you should look again at all your ratings. To get a 4 or 5 star, an anime has to be amazing; great art, good plot, good sound, and be original. Personally, I haven't given out a 5-star rating because to give it to somethiing would say, "This anime is perfect and has no flaws whatsoever."
So, anyone reading this, please think before rating anything else :)
I have plenty of "To do" stuff on my list. I've planned on adding a few anime and manga to the site, but just haven't really had time to get around to writing them up. And I haven't been in a huge hurry since I knew Sothis was focusing on V3 and not new anime and she already has tons of new entries anyway, including one from me that I sent weeks ago. Some point during the summer, I'm re-writing all the Digimon seasons/movie entries, including the first three movies which haven't been added at all to the site (released as one movie in the US). I'll probably get that one done first then. I'm also doing a re-write of the Sakura Wars OVA (I can get this when I can get home to grab my DVD), the second Haruhi webshow and new Beyblade if stuff hasn't already been submitted. I also discovered an older anime from FoxKids called Dinozaurs, but I can't find any episodes of it. I remember watching it, so I'm sure other members have seen it too. If anyone knows where I could get ahold of full episodes, please share :)
I have a few manga around, including Nora and two Zelda manga, that I could read and add at any time. I seriously need to get around to it. And I don't think anyone added Ultimo either.
Recently finished anime
I'm glad I finally have a place to rant about anime I've finished ^-^
First up: Loveless. I finished this a couple of weeks ago. I had high hopes for this show. I know it's a popular shounen ai, and I've seen a few cosplays at conventions, so I decided to watch it (I try to watch popular anime since I see/hear about them often at anime conventions). I was really dissapointed. It was nothing like I thought it'd be. It was boring, slow, confusing, and I forced myself to finish each episode. The action scenes were lame, and had the potential to be much better; the style of battle was interesting. I hated the main character, he was really emo and didn't get much better the entire show. I liked the "annoying happy clumsy girl" more than the main guys. And I really didn't like the shounen ai aspects to it. A grader schooler and a university guy? Just weird in my mind. Like me dating the kid next door. Ew.
Chii's Sweet Home: Adorable!! Cuest show I've ever seen. And since the episodes are only 4 mintues each, I can watch multiple in one sitting. It's one of the very few anime that I can sit down and watch tons of. I enjoyed all 104 episodes, and I'm also loving the second season which is currently airing. I recommded it to several friends already. Any cat-lover should pick it up for sure.
Tayutama: Thank god this anime is finally over. It was a spring 09 anime that I decided to pick up because the animation was cute. The show wasn't very good. It was bascily a fantasy harem. Think Inuyasha in reverse: Human world, with a human guy but magical girl. Plenty of similar shows are better. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Ristorante Paradiso: When you combine Host Club and Antique Bakery, you get this show. I loved it from start to finish. It's not for everyone, but I recommend it to fans of the genre for sure. It's a slice of life about a bunch of mature men who serve/cook food at a restorant in Rome. The women love them, and the food is great. It has a single female main character who begins working there, which reminds me of Host Club. I loved the characters, the setting, and sound. If you liked Antique Bakery, you need to watch this show. Host Club fans will most likely like this too, but it doesn't have the comedy that Host Club does.
Bleach: Ongoing, but I want to talk about it briefly. The last episode was a filler. *Cue hordes of fans complaining everywhere on the internet* I want to say I really ENJOYED the filler episode. It was a prequel to the show, showing the characters entering high school and Rukia entering the human world. I hope it continues next week. I'm getting really annoyed at everyone complaining about the fillers. The anime has almost completely caught up with the manga, so they need to stall somehow. It's fillers, or nothing. If you don't like fillers, don't watch shows like Naruto or Bleach! But lately (well, within the past few months), I've realised I'm not that big of a fan of Bleach. I love the story and characters, but I hate the battles. They last severaly episodes where 95% is talking. And of course they take the "being beat half t death before releaving a powerful attack that would have ended the fight two episodes ago" approach. Especially in the recent episodes. It's really annoying.
I'll write about some other shows next time.
