Comic Party

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Genshiken

Both shows involve the slow descent of a normal student into otakudom and doujinshi. With Genshiken, the tone is somewhat more realistic, while it's more over-the-top and cartoonish in Comic Party -- perhaps because of the series' dating sim origins. Comic Party is more focussed on one character, while there are multiple focal characters in Genshiken.

Cromartie High School

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Azumanga Daioh

Both are wacky comedies set in high schools, complete with an oddball cast of characters. But while AzuDai focuses on girls, in Cromartie there isn't a girl to be seen (unless you count the episodes set in Cromartie Girls High School, which features the same characters but in pigtails and dresses.) Both series are crafted as a series of short vignettes assembled to make longer episodes -- in the case of Cromartie, only about 15 minutes per episode. This shorter length is a godsend, as Cromartie is, unbelievably, even more nonsensical than Azumanga Daioh.
