I would recommend these two pairs of anime because of the nice contrast it provides even though they are both mecha anime. Dual is a parody, so its a lot more silly, humorous and light hearted than Gundam Seed which is much more serious. While Seed takes you through a series of intergalactic battles between mechas and spaceships from the earth and the colonies (in space), both fighting for dominance and supremacy by wiping out the other, the fighting in Dual takes place soley on earth and the reason for war in Dual is a lot more silly... even retarded... but thats what makes it so fun :) And Dual is a lot heavier on the romance part than Seed. So if you are looking for a good laugh, or just feel like a light romantic comedy, I would urge you to give this anime a try. It is definitely a welcome contrast to other mecha type animes which can sometimes get too serious.... not that its bad...but it's nice to take a break from all the seriousness once in a while :)

Slam Dunk

Ok, so you're thinking how could these two totally different animes be a good complement for each other.... I mean they are two completely different genres and all.... In my opinion there is only one thing that connects the two and that is just how funny both of these series are. During the first few eps of both Tylor and Slam Dunk, I laughed so hard.... I had to gasp for air! It's hilarious but it does without the insanity or the craziness of such animes as FLCL or Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai. (too much madness and insanity can mess with your mind a little... lol) As the series goes on, both animes get more serious but still very enjoyable. It's a perfect anime to relieve some stress after going through such ordeals as taking the final exam or after a fight with your boy/girl friend :) As a bonus, Tylor also contains some romance although it never gets too deep. I highly recommend this anime to anyone who likes a good laugh or who just likes animes with interesting plots or both.

Koi Kaze

Both animes have the same light, romantic humor/comedy atmosphere. Only the romance here is mainly between a brother and sister! Unlike Da Capo where all the cute girls (including his sister) in the anime is in love with the male protagonist, in Koi Kaze the male protagonist isn't surrounded by all the females who wants a piece of him which made the anime more belivable than Da Capo. And I would say that both animes end in a similar fashion.... as far as the male-female relationship is concerned and ends on a happy note... sort of... I think the ending in Koi Kaze will surprise you somewhat.... You would really have to watch it to know what I'm really talking about here of course :) what initially attracted me to this anime was the light romantic atmosphere... coz I'm a sucker for romance animes with a touch of humor and light-heartedness.... so if you are sucker for romance like me, I suggest you give this anime a try.

Do you like fanservice? Do you like a lot of fanservice? how about a nice helping of action and some fighting on the side? Well these two animes contain all three so you won't be left hungry.... although I got to say that while the plot was descent, it wasn't anything great... but at least you get a lot of fanservice and humor.

Happy Lesson

It's every guy's fantasy.... to be living (as the sole guy) under one roof surrounded by gorgeous women who loves you and wants to pamper you and is ready to cater to your every need.... it's been done numerous times in the past but I guess some of us just can't get enough of it! They both have a consistently light and funny overtone. Allthough nothing of real great importance happens in any of these two animes, watching the day to day lives of the male protagonist trying to live his life together with a bunch of women usually leads to often humorous situations. Overall I liked happy lesson better because I thought it was funnier and the characters were more interesting but if you like one, you'll probably like the other as well. Or if you are a fan of this type of genre then I'm sure that you will definitely like these two series!

Ping Pong Club

When you talk about just plain crude humor, I don't think any anime can beat the ping pong club but Hanada comes close. The family of Hanada reminds me a lot of the simpsons... with the drunk father at the helm... and Handa is kinda like the super naughty, mischievious Bart Simpson. Hilarity ensues as Hanada tries to fulfill the wishes of the ghosts who will not leave him alone until they get what they want out of him. I personally liked Hanada a lot better than ping pong club... I mean talk about weird taste.... at least Hanada is more comedic and light hearted. Hanada has "heart" (as I like to call it) as opposed to the ping pong club which is just straight crude and oftentimes disgusting humor....kinda like those shows on comedy central where the actors burp, fart and do all these other nasty things on the show to try to get the audience to laugh... but if you are just looking for a good laugh, I think both of these shows will accomplish the job.

Angel Sanctuary

Both of these animes deal with an issue which the society does not tolerate. Sibling love. Not sisterly or brotherly love but a love between a man and a woman. You get to see how these characters deal with this forbidden love and eventually accept it instead of running away from the feeling and that feeling eventually leads to incest. But incest is not the big issue that these two animes deal with but rather how they deal with the feeling of love towards their brother/sister (even though they themselves believe it is wrong to have these feelings). I would also like to point out that incest in only implied and there's nothing explicit. One thing to note is that angel sanctuary is only a 3 part ova so it deals with the issue rather early on while Da Capo is 26 eps so it doesn't really deal with the issue till later. So if this sounds intriguing, I suggest you give it a try.

Slam Dunk

Hajime No Ippo is a truly great sports anime... but so is Slam Dunk. Although it is much older, it has the same suspense and intensity during matches. Each and every game is gripping, and makes you want to see through it till the end. Initially Slam Dunk is a LOT more funny but the anime gets more serious with each episode. Like in HnI, there is a lot of character development of the lead character in Slam Dunk also. You can really see how much effort the lead character in Slam Dunk puts in to make himself better, and how much he loves the game, just like the lead character in HnI. Oh and lets not forget the awkward romance between the lead character and the girl he's in love with. Only difference is that in HnI, the feeling is mutual while in Slam Dunk the romance is more of a triangle. So if you like sports animes, even if you don't have any interest in the sport, you gotta see it! They are both superb!

Ah! My Goddess

While the two series differ quite a bit in the plot, both of these animes have a similar overall tone and feel to them. Both series are light, heartwarming, somewhat humorous and contains romantic themes. One major difference is that oh! my goddess focuses almost exclusively on the romance between the male and female protagonist while Ai Baby focuses more on the relationship between Kippei (male protagonist) and the five year old Yuzuyu than the romance between him and his girlfriend. While raising this ultra cute five year old, he (Kippei) learns responsibility, self-sacrifice and the true meaning of really caring for someone. There is a lot of character development for Kippei and Yuzuyu, something which is lacking in Oh! my goddess since there is not enough time to really develop these characters in just five short episodes. But if you read the manga for oh my goddess, you can get a lot more in-depth character development. But once again, because of the similar tone and mood of both these animes, I think you would enjoy both of these series.

Besides from beautiful but deadly women with guns, both of these animes have a dark, complicated and a serious plot with surprises and twists involving sinister and clandestine organizations. If you like girls with guns, and if you like dark, serious plots that will have you thinking somewhat.... i would recommend this anime.
