I have been watching anime for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I was an avid Pokemon, Digimon, and Dragonball fan. Later into my years I continued watching those classics, but eventually found myself geting more interested in Hayao Miyazaki's movies and progressively becoming more adventurous and seeking out other popular anime like DNAngel, Trigun, and others. By the time I was in my senior year in high school, my best friend and I considered us to be near the otaku-level (our school is small lol).
While I don't necessarily consider myself to be so perfectly versed in the anime world, seeing as how real life and potential career opportunities started to make themselves realized, I never gave up. I still continue to watch anime when I can, though usually sticking to the "under 50 episodes/series" rule.
I'm very picky with my anime these days. In the last two years I have learned a lot about animation through physically participating in it, and have developed a new appreciation for it. With this, I've developed a bit of a cryptic way of looking at certain shows. If it's animated poorly or cheepy I'll lose interest in it. I would much rather spend my time watching an action anime that's animated like Seirei no Moribito over Bleach's dynamic pose, strike, struggle, and bleed fighting scenes.
As far as the sound qualities are concerned, if the voice acting isn't believable, I'll immediately loose interest. Take the English dub for Orphan for example. I seriously could not bring myself to watch a full episode. It was that bad. I've met a number of professional English dubbers (Scott McNeil and Vic Mignonia to name a couple), and I understand the hardships of acting, but seriously... come on now. If you're not believable, who's gonna wanna listen to you? Not me. In regards to the epic struggle regarding whether Subs or Dubs are better, I'm neutral. Some shows I prefer in english (ie. Eureka 7), and then there are shows that almost require you to watch them in Japanese to get the full effect (ie. the Osakan accents in Lovely Complex). The soundtrack is also important, but possible to be overlooked depending on the circumstances. I usually tune out bad soundtracks while the better stuff I'm more liable to pick up and try to find to add to my vast soundtrack collection.
I may sound like a traditionalist old hag or something, but I'm just at that point in my life where I know what I like and will stick to it rather than indulging myself in watching as many shows as I can just to say I did.
Well, that's all for now! TTFN folks.
My Anime Stats:
Watched: I have watched the entire series.
Watching: I am currently watching, or am planning to start very soon.
Stalled: I either can’t continue, or temporarily lost interest, but plan on finishing.
Dropped: A very small percentage (next to zero) chance of me finishing it.
Star Rating
It's a very rough outline.
4-5: A highly reccomended anime that I enjoyed. These usually contain excellent animation quality, good story, good soundtrack and voice acting, and good character development.
3-2: It was alright. It may have a couple of the above qualities, but was overall lacking in something.
1: I didn't enjoy it. The animation and general art quaility is poor, voice acting, poor story-- just generally sucks.
0: I haven't rated it yet.
Shows that I have watched the entire season more than once:
Lucky Star, Digimon (1,2,3), Wolf's Rain, Trigun, Samurai X, Sword of the Stranger
While Blood The Last Vampire has amazing animation, kick-butt action, and intimidating character designs it didn’t really seem to do much for ... read more
For those that appreciate a show that you can just sit down and watch without having to worry...

Yeah bakemono ended up being 15 eps. The 13th just came out and it is still really good though, I was laughing so hard! The thing I love about that show is just how different it is. Peter liked it too but he didn't like the unconventional character development I think so idn, we'll see how you like it :P Anyways I think I'll email you sometime soon. Do you check your gmail?
Creeper: Anime Planet has not given Bakemonogatari the completed Status....... some sites have and some haven't....
Hehehe I got both you and peter watching bakemono ^.^ lol. I heard a disturbing rumor but I don't think it is true... Someone said that there are 15 eps... but I think it ends at 12. I'll update if I was wrong -.-
Mininova is good. Bakabt is good for anime and fast.
Konnichiwa!
kkkkk lets say I almost cry after each episode is over thinking I have to wait another week to see the next episode. I don't know how it will feel without having seen the first on because they cover a lot of ground quickly at the beginning (I'm assuming it is because they assume that people have seen the first one - but you know what they say about assuming -____-) but you should be ok. It really is great, even the voices and OP/ED's are great, and the animation is really smooth. Give a few episodes a try. Obviously nothing is perfect so I'm sure there is some iffy stuff, but it'll be well worth your time :P
