Gundam (Universal Century) Suggested Viewing Order

10 AUG
2009

Okay, Gundam is very very intricate regarding its timeline, which is made all the more confusing by multiple series, OVAs, movies, live-action incarnations, exclusive manga stories, and a very big crew of characters. Gundam actually has many timelines, each seemingly existing as stand-alone stories. As such, the events in one timeline exist totally seperate from all other timelines. These timelines are "Universal Century" (which is the original, and most developed, timeline), "Future Century", "After Colony", "Correct Century", "Cosmic Era", and the recently-new timeline, "Anno Domini." This Viewing Order will focus on the original/main universe of Gundam; Universal Century

--> MS IGLOO 1, Part 1: The Hidden One Year War (2004, 3 Episode OVA)

--> MS IGLOO 2: The Gravity Front (2008, 3 Episode OVA)

--> MS IGLOO 1, Part 2: Apocalypse 0079 (2006, 3 Episode OVA)

--> Mobile Suit Gundam (1979, 43 Episode TV Series)*

--> 08th MS Team (1996, 12 Episode OVA)**

--> 0080: War In The Pocket (1989, 6 Episode OVA)

--> 0083: Stardust Memory (1991, 13 Episode OVA)***

--> Zeta Gundam (1985, 50 Episode TV Series)****

--> Gundam ZZ (1986, 47 Episode TV Series)

--> Char's Counterattack (1988, Movie)

--> Gundam Unicorn (2010, 5 Episode OVA)

--> Gundam F91 (1991, Movie)

--> Victory Gundam (1993, 51 Episode TV Series)

--> G Saviour (2000, Live Action Movie)

* Mobile Suit Gundam was also re-released in the forms of 3 compilation movies. These summarise this series, and are called "Mobile Suit Gundam I" (1981), "Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow" (1981) and "Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters In Space" (1982).

** 08th MS Team was also re-released in the form of a compilation movie to summarise this series, and is called "08th MS Team: Miller's Report" (1998) - however, this 'remake' only covers episodes 1 to 8, and leaves episodes 9 to 12 un-covered.

*** 0083: Stardust Memory was also re-released in the form of a compilation movie to summarise this series, and is called "0083 Stardust Memory: The Last Blitz of Zeon" (2006), but is more commonly known as "0083 Stardust Memory: The Afterglow of Zeon" (2006). These two movies are in fact the same movie; the former is the official movie name, but the latter is the name it was released under in parts of Europe.

**** Zeta Gundam was also re-released in the form of 3 compilation movies. These summarise the series, and are called "Zeta Gundam - A New Translation I: Heir To The Stars" (2005), "Zeta Gundam - A New Translation II: Lovers" (2005) and "Zeta Gundam - A New Translation III: Love Is The Pulse Of The Stars" (2006).

Sweet! Now I don't have to go through a bunch of spoilers.

BTW: I have the Gundam titles in the order they were released in one of my custom lists and in my blog. Not as useful as your list, though. :D
