Hi there! Currently, I’m an undergrad studying physiology and neuroscience in sunny California. Besides anime, I love foreign film, classical guitar, and writing. Sometimes I play RPGs and edit videos (remember, AMVs = Amateurs Making Videos). Ok, not always the case, here’s a pro 5cm per second one. Anyways, I’m relatively new to anime and manga, but I hope to watch/read tons more. My favorite genres include sci-fi, slice-of-life comedies, and psychological series. I’ll re-watch anything that makes me laugh, cry, or think, although my favorite shows generally do all three.

Personal Ratings:

<4 – Below average. Avoid at all costs!

5 – Mediocre/Average. Your run-of-the-mill, generic anime. Defines 'Meh'.

6 – Slightly above average. Had some promise, but fell flat on execution.

7 – Good. Recommendable and overall enjoyable, but has some notable flaws.

8 – Great. All around solid show with minor flaws. Well worth watching.

9/10 – Excellent. The best shows of their genre. Highly recommended.

Yeah! That's one of my friend's favorites, too. Whenever he's drunk he forgets that he's already shown it to me, and insists I watch it.

Ooh, that looks good. It's going on my internal Want to Watch list. I'm sure there's some way to procure it- perhaps downloading the film and the subtitles separately?

Your post may have opened the flood gates, for my posting these sorts of things to you.

You mean the Uncanny Valley? Claymation always falls short of that for me, but I see where you're coming from.

The sig is art by this artist: http://kumaori.info/ (the site isn't in english, but if you just click around on all the thumbnails, you should be able to see everything).

And if for some reason you want to rekindle your claymation=freaky/creepy opinion, you should look into Live Freaky, Die Freaky. It's a musical about Charles Manson.

No problem!

I've always thought claymation was cool, and my recent attempts at stop-motion have just solidified my respect for them. Depending on the framerate, it could take hours to make just a few seconds. I'm still not sure whether or not that kind of patience is awesome.
