Hi there! Currently, I’m an undergrad studying physiology and neuroscience in sunny California. Besides anime, I love foreign film, classical guitar, and writing. Sometimes I play RPGs and edit videos (remember, AMVs = Amateurs Making Videos). Ok, not always the case, here’s a pro 5cm per second one. Anyways, I’m relatively new to anime and manga, but I hope to watch/read tons more. My favorite genres include sci-fi, slice-of-life comedies, and psychological series. I’ll re-watch anything that makes me laugh, cry, or think, although my favorite shows generally do all three.
Personal Ratings:
<4 – Below average. Avoid at all costs!
5 – Mediocre/Average. Your run-of-the-mill, generic anime. Defines 'Meh'.
6 – Slightly above average. Had some promise, but fell flat on execution.
7 – Good. Recommendable and overall enjoyable, but has some notable flaws.
8 – Great. All around solid show with minor flaws. Well worth watching.
9/10 – Excellent. The best shows of their genre. Highly recommended.

Hi Hesse,
Just dropping by regarding AnoHana. I was about to put it down on my list of shows to review when I noticed it was already down on yours as a 'maybe'. I started writing notes for it as I was watching (half way through), so I'm wondering, if you haven't already started any writing on it, whether I might be able to review it?
It's completely fine if you really wish to if you've set your heart on it - it's not like I'm desperate for shows to review, lol. Just that if you don't mind at all, then the notes I have can at least be put to use.
No problem, I was just surprised to see someone named Hesse writing a review; I had no idea who you were. It was great though, you should consider doing it more often :)
Oh! I am surprised you see Wolf's Rain like a classic because don't many people say the same. Personally, I found it like a "breaking standard", even if it is a old serie, it will always have the fresh-y atmosphere that a good, deep and overwoked serie has.
Sorry my english. But yea, my top five, for me, are classics (even if I use to love many many series ;D)
You were right about Run, Melos. What a gorgeous snippet of storytelling. I was absorbed in every minute and the finale was powerfully moving. It did make Aoi Bungaku Series worth the watch, but I think I disagree on the value you gave the show as a whole. Beside Kokoro, really, the rest are underwhelming. I left a more detailed comment on the review.
Konnichiwa!
Oh yay! Thanks very much. I am going to have to mull this anime over after I finish it and make more sense of my notes. But I think I've got a good general theme. I agree, though, this is not one that is so easily put into words. It has its flaws, but generally makes such a success of what it does that I'm not actually sure what exactly it is doing that is successful. @_@ If that makes sense.
