Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry

Nov 13, 2012

A mecha space adventure that's better than the average mecha out there, though nowhere near as good as some of the better mecha anime. Featuring decent characters, decent storyline and decent action, this show is definetely decent, but not much better than that. Story: 6 Sarah Werec has joined the Strain (Strategic Armored Infantry) academy in order to chase after her brother a famous Strain pilot. While things seem to be going well for her, the academy is hit by a surprise attack led by her brother! The rest of the anime is about Sarah joining a space fleet and trying to figure out what made her... See full review

Moetan

Nov 8, 2012

Magical Change! Two loli girls do their magical transformation meanwhile two magicians polymorphed into a duck and a cat drool and get nosebleeds from watching. Yep, basically what this show is about is taking the mahou shojo genre and creating a hilarious parody. If you find a klutzy girl teamed up with a perveted duck who practically swims in pools of his own drool funny then you'll enjoy this show. Story: 4.5 Ok, there's not much to the story on this one. Number one magician Arks is expelled from the magical kingdom, transformed into a duck and dropped on earth. There he teams up with Ink... See full review

Solty Rei

Nov 6, 2012

A captivating show that will tug at your emotions, this is the charming story of a broken man and his adopted android daughter who brings him out of his misery.  Story: 8 The attractiveness of a futuristic world comes together with the darker atmosphere of a city in turmoil after being torn apart by an incident known as the "Blast Fall" twelve years earlier. Roy Revent is a bounty hunter who is unable to shake his depression after the loss of his daughter in the Blast Fall. Then an android girl falls from the sky and saves his life and soon after he adopts her. Solty is an innocent minded... See full review

Kujibiki Unbalance

Nov 5, 2012

This anime makes me want to punch the people at Asiadou studio in the face for creating this abomination. This anime is what it is, an obvious ploy to make a few extra bucks off the fans of Genshiken. For anyone who hasn't watched Genshiken, Kujibiki is the show the characters of Genshiken are always watching and are huge fans of. Due to the fact that it's played off as a generic anime for otaku it ends up becoming just that, completely generic in every way. Story: 3 Poor generic average loser Chihiro Enomoto, a kid cursed with bad luck has been suckered into becoming a candidate for next years student... See full review

Coyote Ragtime Show

Nov 2, 2012

Get ready for a wild space pirate ride filled with killer android lolis and a likeable group of space pirates also known as Coyotes! While not being the most profound anime out there Coyote Ragtime Show is what a it is- an exciting space adventure with an amusing cast of characters. It had a bit of a Treasure Island feel to it. Story: 5.5 Nefarious criminal known best as "Mister" has broken out of prison and is now in a race against time, (and a group of android assassins) to reach a treasure left behind by his late friend the king of pirates. The story behind this anime is quite simplistic and... See full review

El Cazador de la Bruja

Oct 17, 2012

What should you expect from CDLB? A fun slice of life anime with a good story about the strengthening bonds of friendship through travel and experiences. It also has some action, but nothing too spectacular in that department. Basically a show about two girls on a road trip and a little spice thrown in from the assorted characters following them. Story: 5      Nadie is a bounty hunter charged with protecting a mysterious girl named Ellis. Ellis is a girl with strange powers that is suffering from amnesia. Together they travel to Winay Marka to uncover the mysteries surrounding Ellis'... See full review

Bakemonogatari

Sep 8, 2012

Bakemonogatari is a relatively unique supernatural anime that likes to rely on symbolism and dialogue. Whether or not you find the symbolism intriguing and the dialogue witty will ultimately determine whether or not you find enjoyment watching this anime. I'm normally a fringe anime reviewer that likes to review anime that aren't too mainstream. After seeing Bakemonogatari though I can't help but want to write about it knowing it will be a lot of fun to write about. There seems to be a lot of other people that share this sentiment. That being said I personally did not enjoy Bakemonogatari as much as the... See full review

Lamune

Sep 7, 2012

I am pleased to present you with a review of a refreshingly unique romance anime when compared with the rest of the genre. While a lot of anime don't bother to get their characters very far in terms of developing relationships, Lamune actually showcases the development of a relationship. Despite looking like it might turn into just another harem anime due to the fact that it's based off a dating sim and has an overabundance of female characters, Lamune instead focuses on the romance between the main characters. Story 7/10 Lamune is a story about the growth of a childhood friendship into a budding romance... See full review

Vandread: The Second Stage

Aug 30, 2012

If you haven't seen the first season check that out first. In this season Hibiki and the rest of the crew of the Nirvana go through several of their biggest challenges yet as the Harvest ships from Earth commence more vicious assaults. I decided to write this review to answer this question: is the second season of Vandread worth watching? The answer I've come up with is this: There is definite improvement in many aspects of the show and if you enjoyed the first season at all then you will really enjoy the second season. If, however the personalities of some of the characters were unbearable for you to... See full review

Read or Die

Aug 28, 2012

Watch this anime or die! Not really, but I still highly recommend it. Read or Die is an anime that should be on just about anybody's must watch list; not because it has anything in particular that stands out about it, but because it has such a high enjoyable to watch factor. This anime has more of a James Bond movie feel to it than anything else, except James Bond is taken out and replaced with Yomiko Readman, a  simple girl that has an incredible love for books. She also has the ability to manipulate paper to do just about anything, even shield her from bullets. Story 5.5/10 The story itself... See full review

Aug 26, 2012

Looking for an exciting action packed, martial arts oriented anime? Look no further! SF II V really delivers in the action department. Fans of the Street Fighter series will definetely enjoy seeing the characters in awesome fight scenes. Story 7/10 The story to this anime revolves around Ken and Ryu's travels around the world looking for different styles of martial arts and new challenging opponents. Along the way they meet Chun-Li and become good friends with her and she joins them on some of their adventures. Their journey gets disrupted however when they become entangled with the underground crime... See full review

Hilarity ensues as Haruhi and friends are chibified and have the eccentricities of their personalities magnified to explosive proportions! Oban Star-Racers

Nov 20, 2011

An enjoyable thrill ride that starts slow but has several exciting highlights that keep you on your toes. OBS has an endearing cast of main characters and a wide variety of side characters to keep you interested. If you give Oban Star-Racers a chance it may surprise and delight you. That being said this show does have several flaws that some people will be able to overlook while others won't.    Story OBS definiteley gets credit for having a fairly original idea, sure the star-racers look like something akin to the pod-racers from Star Wars, but they expound on the racing theme with... Utawarerumono

Nov 10, 2011

What the heck is the deal with this dude in a mask!?! That's what you'll be asking yourself throughout the anime. Underneath the storyline of the characters striving to create a new nation free from war is the hidden story of a masked man's forgotten past. Utawarerumono is an entertaining anime that would be enjoyable for a variety of audiences, definetely something worth watching for any anime buff. Including a great cast of interesting characters, epic battle scenes and a good amount of humor this anime gets good marks in almost every area.    Story Although it has at times a... Ranma 1/2: The Movie 2 - Nihao My Concubine

Aug 31, 2011

Ranma and crew find themselves shipwrecked on an island in this adventure. While everyone is having fun on the island the girls start disappearing and they soon find themselves kidnapped by a prince of an island who is searching for a bride. The island is also home to a magical water that turns anyone or anything into a man, which sparks the interest of Ranma and the other guys with the problem of changing when they get splashed with cold water. There isn't anything overly spectacular about the animation or sound of this movie. For a Ranma 1/2 movie the action animation isn't as good as some of the... See full review

Mahou Sensei Negima! ~Shiroki Tsubasa Ala Alba~

Aug 12, 2011

This 3 episode ova is about Negi and several of his students including Asuna, Konoka, Setsuna and Nodoka undergoing magical training in order to go to Wales to search for Negi's father. When Fuuko and Fumika overhear about the trip word spreads and several of the classmates become jealous, including Ayaka and Makie who have strong feelings for Negi and are upset that they were not told of the trip. There is actually not a lot of training in this anime. Most of the anime focusses more on Anya, Negi's childhood friend, and her struggles with several of the students to get closer to Negi. This is amusing, but... See full review
