Hi. ^_^  Nice avatar; I love Yoshitaka Amano's artwork.  I am glad you have a list of favorite Japanese bands.  I will have to check them out.

Awesome. I'm pretty much the same, anime and music take up all my time for my hobbies. I'd say about 70% of the music I get into is metal, the rest being mainly prog rock/prog metal haha. Yeh I really got into that boom of Swedish bands like Dark Tranquillity, At The Gates, The Haunted, Soil Work and I still keep up with what they're releasing (The Haunted's newest album was pretty lacklustre though..)

I have listened to some Queensryche - they're pretty good. Yeh many people prefer their older stuff, they slowed down a bit (kinda like Metallica) but their singer Geoff Tate is very good and I think he's probably the main draw of the band. They do a really good cover of Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine as well :).

Wow, I had no idea Dragonforce/Demoniac were originally based in New Zealand. I was only just watching some Dragonforce clips with my bro last night, haha. I had a quick listen to Demoniac and that was interesting. It was like the power metal music sounds of Dragonforce to death vocals. Nice, that Essence track was killer - so they're from Denmark, yep Europe's definitely where it's at in terms of all this great metal.

I hadn't heard of Insomnuim or Skeletonwitch before - particularly liked the Imsomnium track I just had a quick listen to. Dude, your knowledge of the scene is like a wellspring of metal, I'm not as up with it with all these bands! But I'm in agreement with a lot of great tunes coming out recently - including the new Opeth album, which (beware!) is not metal at all...though I'm still really digging it. In terms of black/death metal, have you listened to Dark Tranquillity before? They're a bit more reknowned, so you might have already, but they're a great band out of Sweden.

That's cool, it's great discovering new tunes ^_^. Yeh, we've got a few good bands down here, but a lot of them end up going over to Europe and signing up with labels over there which I suppose is good because they get more exposure that way. Here we don't have any notable labels picking up heavier bands. Actually, I think that Iced Earth and Machine Head which are both American have signed up over there as well. Have you heard the new Machine Head album? I wasn't much of a fan of those guys, I liked their first couple of albums - but their newest one is really good, I've had that playing alongside Dream Theater as well!

Yeh, that Dragon Guardian track was pretty cool and I checked out Cerebral Bore (haven't heard of them before) and wow, haha. She's got that 'low' death vocal style going. That Sigh track, yep random - those groovy sections are great.
