Plot: "Cross Academy is a school with a difference: in a unique and experimental setup designed by the headmaster, it has a Day Class consisting of ordinary humans and a Night Class filled with vampires. Yuki Cross and her friend Zero Kiryu are school prefects whose job it is to make sure the secret of the Night Class is always safe; they patrol the school grounds at night and supervise the switchover of classes at dawn and dusk to prevent any 'accidents' from happening. While Zero is suspicious of vampires and hates the idea of sharing the same space as them, Yuki admires the Night Class for their beauty and sophistication; she is especially intrigued by their charming leader, Kaname, because he once saved her life. However, as Yuki quickly learns, not all vampires are amiable like the Night Class, and as terrible events unfold, Yuki must ask herself whether in a world where vampires are the hunters and humans are the prey, peaceful coexistence can really be achieved." Story: Back with another review! After watching this puppy, i truly had to pay my respects my respects towards this masterpiece titled as Vampire Knight, if only i knew how cool it is i might have watched it earlier anyway i am grateful that i happened to watch it. Vampire Knight is such an amazing anime that, i might exagerate when i say that it changed my life but i am not, i really mean it, i never felt the same since i started Bleach for the first time, this feeling, this hunger, its like i hunger for more knowledge regarding this show, i really want to know what happens and i really want to see the end of it, no mather how many years i will have to wait, as a loyal fan i will wait and i will take care to do not die until this manga ends (overreacting!). The story of this show is centered on Cross Yuki, a girl which attends Cross Academy, a special academy, special because it has a Day Class which consists of humans and a Night Class which only vampires attend. Cross Yuki and Kiryuu Zero are both taken care of the chairman of the academy, Cross Kaien, the one that approved with organizing a Night Class for the sake of bringing peace and harmony between humans and vampires. The dorm leader of the Night Class, Kuran Kaname is a pure-blood vampire who has a special bond with Cross Yuki, he actualy saved her life, saving her from a evil vampire 10 years ago bringing her to Cross Kaien. Pure-bloods can simply unite other vampires of lower classes around them, swearing total loyalty towards them and also their blood can be used to turn normal humans into vampires. One thing that truly impressed about this anime is that it actualy ties up toghether the legends/myths of the vampires, not just simply throwing them there or interepreting them how they want, some of them are pretty much "authentic" coming from different real sources, like stories or historical writings so its not just random. To be honest, this 2 seasons of Vampire Knight actualy revolve around the past of this 3 characters, Kaname, Yuki and Zero. The first season unveils the past of Kiryuu Zero, he lost his family in a tragic accident 4 years ago. They were killed by a vampire and he was the only survivor left from his family, as a result he never forgot what happened and he has hatred against every vampire, especially against Kaname. After the incident, Cross Kaien takes him to his home where he meets Yuki and from here on their journey starts. When the Night Class is founded, both Yuki and Zero and named prefects and guardians, their job is to patrol at night and make sure that no one interferes into Night's Class afairs and more exactly to keep the secret that the academy is actualy hosting vampires. Tough job, since the Night Class consists of playboy types such as Aidou, Shiki, Kain, Ichijou which are very handsome, so handsome that they are always targeted by the girls from Day Class. I wont spoil anymore, curious about what secrets Zero hold? or what really happened that day when his parents got killed? better watch for yourself because it would be really bad if i would spoil everything, dun wana be hated for that, you guys know what i mean.
Animation and Sound: Actualy when i started watching Vampire Knight i thought that this might turn into something like Blood+, partialy i was right but where i have mistaken was in term of animation. The animation in Vampire Knight seems more suitable for a vampire show, vampires that always maintain their human form even when they enrage, they are beasts but beasts that take human form, at least this makes it look like a real vampire show, not like Blood+ where the vampires more or less turned into some terrific monsters, completely loosing their human form. In addition Vampire Knight has alot more blood sucking scenes than Blood+ had, which again for a vampire shows its more or less essential. Pretty much superior in terms of animation, Vampire Knight exceeds at almost every chapter, animation style, backgrounds, sights, character designs all pretty much are suitable for a true vampire show. The sound also was refreshing and suitable for the atmosphere and the mood in the anime, the opening and ending song were quite listenable and enjoyable and the background sounds were well thinked, well placed and delightful, pretty much impressing.
Characters: The strongest point of this series in my opinion is related to characters and their personalities which made them quite interesting, the mysterious aura around them that always gave the feeling that they got something to hide that their past covered in mystery. I name such characters "bombshells" because when they explode, they always surprize the viewer with a plot twist that pretty much changes everything, becoming more and more intriguing. I admit at times it gets predictable, but not totaly predictable, and yet another thing that i liked about it is that even though its easy to guess how it will end up with, the show always comes up with something that you might have skipped, something that you were not able to predict, this is what an action/mystery anime should send to viewers and probably this is one of the things that makes Vampire Knight so popular not only the relationship between Yuki and Kaname or Yuki and Zero. As i said above one of the things that made this anime good is the character personalities which are extremely different, Yuki is a cheerful, clumsy type yet a person that always does her job correspondly, loyal and friendly to everyone, Zero, a dark person filled with feelings of hatred towards vampires willing to revenge the death of his family, his only goal is to kill vampires (one of the reasons could also be that he comes from a family which are well known vampire hunters), even though they were or were not related to the incident that happened 4 years ago to him, however he also has a person that he cares for and thats of course Yuki and Kaname, which in my opinion its a characters that its hard to describe in words, since he is more or less fake, always putting "masks" never showing his true face, he seems to be a lonely person, however a kind one, filled with secrets and like Zero he also likes Yuki, the only thing that makes them similar is actualy this love for Yuki.
Overall: In other words, Vampire Knight its truly a show that must not be missed by any anime fan. It is interesting, funny, sad, sorrowful at times, intriguing and exciting at some points and never dissapoints. It does not lack action at all though it mostly takes time for the story to develop. [Those that have not seen the anime should not read this, Spoiler] Now a little rant, i have been searching on anime discussion sites and manga discussion sites regarding this show and i am actualy impressed but in a negative way of how ignorant people can be. How can you, an anime fan, say that if Yuki does not end up with Zero, this anime is actualy useless? this thing makes me wonder if that person truly understood what really happened in the manga/anime, because if you make such an affirmation and yet you have seen the show you must be completely crazy. I agree if Yuki will end up with Zero, that will make it alot better but lets not forget what this story is about. How much we want this to happen Yuki one way or another is destined to be with Kaname, Zero is far out of her reach, even though they are both the same kind, their perceptions about vampires is totaly different, its like you compare the night with day. Unless Zero does not manage to get over his conception and reduce the hatred against vampires he and Yuki will never be able to become a couple. I don't want to spoil anything anymore so once again if you have not seen the anime don't read this since it will completely ruin it for you [End Spoiler]. One way or another this anime is not over yet, a second season still exists and i do hope for a continuation of it soon!
~Once again those that did not see the anime pay atention to the tips in bold, that is actauly a sign that a certain phrase/paragraph might contain spoilers, ow and btw i don't want to hear stuff like "dude that spoiler ruins everything" since this is my review i have the right to spoil how much i want and its not my problem if you did not seen it or not~
