Nurarihyon no Mago

on Mar 22, 2012

I was watching an episode earlier (still working through the series) and from another room my husband asked if I was watching a Harry Potter anime. After that question every piece of incidental and background music sounded like I should be wandering around Hogwarts. There will be a complete review once I have finished the entire show. My current rating is simply that - a rating for what I've seen so far.

Legend of Basara

on Oct 21, 2011

Let me start by saying that I read the manga before I watched the anime, so I went into watching it knowing the anime was unfinished. That said I still had some pretty major issues with the story. Spoilers lie ahead. Be warned. Story: Let me just start by saying that it is ENTIRELY possible for someone to live out their life and even fight a war as a cross-dressing badass. Sarasa/Tatara (who for convenience will henceforth be known as Tatas) failed at this. No bandana, no matter the... See full review

Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi TV

The numbers don't work, right? I wanted to like this anime. I don't normally go for yaoi storylines, but the plot review seemed compelling and I was in the mood for something a little more adult in theme and weight. Unfortunately I found myself bored. The main character was a self-proclaimed "jaded" adult, but was in reality a frightened man afraid to risk being hurt. The love interest was two-dimensional and there was a serious lack of character development or backstory on him. Although I am told there's a manga somewhere with his perspective I can't help thinking that information would have... See full review

Earl and Fairy

on Oct 21, 2011

I'd have to say that while I enjoyed the anime I did find myself wishing for greater character development and a second season for some resolution. I couldn't help feeling that despite the backstory we received for (I can't remember their names, which I suppose tells you something) the main characters I still had trouble really identifying with the female lead. Part of this is I found myself wanting to know more about Raven and Kelpie (can you tell I have a type?) and I really wanted more depth for what's-her-name. A distince lack of growth and arch on her part made her the weak link for me. She never... See full review
