Ok it’s been a while since I last updated this profile description (almost 3 years) so let’s give it a go. I’m a freshman in college that was introduced to the wonderful world of anime by my friend veggiegirl in 9th grade. I had been watching anime my whole life through cartoon network but had no idea what it was. Veggiegirl took advantage of this and dragged me into the world she had uncovered. She first lured me with sweet words of Naruto and Pokémon whom I had watched for many moons and slowly, slowly dug my grave deeper. It was the fateful day of December something, 2011 (a few days before I made this account) that she successfully managed to entangle me for all eternity in the web of anime. This was the day I met Angel Beats. More plot, more character development, more feels than anything I had ever seen before. All this and more packed into a measly 12 episodes. I fell in love.
After that I created my animeplanet profile and filled it up with anything I had ever seen. To veggiegirl’s astonishment I far surpassed her and had over a month on my “life on anime” right off the bat. Apparently when you spend your childhood on cartoon network’s anime it adds up. Probably a month after she got me into anime veggiegirl nudged me into trying the currently airing Sword Art Online, a decision from which I still thank her today. SAO quickly shot to my #1 anime of all time and has sat there for almost 4 years now.
In the 4 years I’ve been into anime I’ve seen many different kinds of anime: some good, some bad, some a dare to call masterpieces (From the new world), and some I would give nothing more than to erase from my memory for all of eternity (Toradora SOS). While my ride on this roller-coaster has had its ups and downs I haven’t regretted any of it for a second. Anime has become such an important part of my life that I can’t even imagine trying to live without it.
Now let’s move onto the fun part, spreading this infection to all of my friends. For my friend shadowshade I just had to kinda bug him to make an account since he grew up on cartoon network with me. He doesn’t really watch a lot of anime but he keeps up to date on the really popular and long running ones (especially the ones that air on cartoon network). Luneth1111air took a bit more effort but when he saw me and shadowshade watching Fairy Tail at one of our choir concerts he got hooked right away. After binging FT until he was caught up I started shoving new anime down his throat until he started looking them up himself. A final case would be my friend Weston who claimed that all anime was stupid. I essentially bugged him until he agreed to try a few starting with Attack on Titan. After he finished AoT he quickly started to bug me for more anime that “wasn’t stupid.” From this point I showed him Angel Beats, From the New World and SAO. Needless to say Weston now claims that “most anime is stupid.”
As far as anime rating goes I just ripped off http://www.anime-planet.com/users/LinkSword so there you go, that’s my scale. ;P
Finally, a tribute to my childhood. ( not made by me ._. )
Ps: i'm always open for anime/manga recomendations. My favorite Genre are: Gender Bender, Fantasy, Person in a Strange World, Post-Apocalyptic, Action, RomCom, and Adveture.
