Hidamari Sketch × ☆☆☆

Apr 5, 2010

I seriously never really considered the fact that this latest season of the Hidamari Sketch franchise could be any better that the second season, Hidamari Sketch X 365. Nevertheless, that's exactly what happened. Overall it's still the same good ole slice-of-life  show with cute characters dealing with issues of their daily lifes, buying a new set of curtains, a trip to the hairdresser, losing your house key because you flushed it down the toilet (yeah really), X Hoshimittsu deals with various simple topics such as those with both style and... Touka Gettan

Oct 10, 2009

Originally posted on NihonQc.com on January 22nd 2009Story Summarizing the story of Touka Gettan in just a few lines is practically impossible, in this review I’ll tell you just what you need to know about it. Kamitsumihara is a fantastic ground where magic, destiny and tradition played a major part in the history. For generations, Kamitsumihara is under the protection of the Kamiazuma family. By pushing back the demons and evil spirits from these grounds, they allow the residents of Kamitsumihara to live a normal life. The... See full review

Hitsuji no Uta

Oct 10, 2009

Originally posted onthe forums on October 28th 2008Here's a show I've been wanting to watch for a long time. HnU is one of my first true horror show so I really don't know much about them. But one thing's for sure, I felt like the director did an amazing job on this one. There's something extremely creepy in the way the series was "shot", it reminded me a lot of those old-school Hitchcock movies. The artwork ain't pretty, but it really... See full review

Banner of the Stars II

Oct 5, 2009

Originally posted on the forums on June 4th 2008Wow.... I thought Crest of the Stars was great, and felt that Banner of the Stars I could have been a lot better...but... seriously Banner of the Stars II couldn't have been any better. Everything seemed perfect, all the little details I disliked about BotSI were gone, and they brought back that Sci-fi/adventure atmosphere which made me enjoy Crest of the Stars so much. If BotSI was close to a... See full review

RahXephon: The Motion Picture

Oct 5, 2009

Originally posted on the forums on May 4th 2008 I tend to realize how awesome an anime is the second time around, so when I re-watched RahXephon The Motion Picture for the second time, it made me love the series/franchise even more. The characters and storyline are very unique (can we stop with the NGE comparisons plz? RahXephon is superior in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY).I will just say that the movie adds a lot to the original series, but I wouldn't... See full review

Crest of the Stars

Oct 5, 2009

Originally posted on the forums on April 15th 2008I've recently received my Crest of the Stars dvds, so today I decided to watch the episodes I had on "hold" for a while. Wow... usually I really (and I mean REALLY) dislike space operas, but there's something special about this series... I can't quite put my finger on it, but I literally fell in love with it!It's definitely not the artwork, to be honest it plain sucks! Lafiel is actually... See full review

Rosario to Vampire

Oct 5, 2009

...meh.... I really liked the first couple of episodes, when they introduced every character in its own way, but those last 5-6 episodes were a total pain to go through... Loved the backgrounds and some of the character designs (especially Moka and Mizore), but goddamn they screwed up every time they tried to make the story a little more serious. That final episode couldn't have been more anti-climatic, the super-bad-vilain of the show was introduced in the second-to-last episode, right? In the end, this series was a total waste of my time. If only I could have my 4 hours back...

Minami-ke

Oct 5, 2009

This show was pretty funny I must say. Slice-of-life/comedies definitely aren't my favourite genres (actually I'm having a hard time finishing most episodic shows), but this series was a pleasant surprise! It doesn't have much of a story (like most shows of this genre), Kana's mischiefs and Chiaki's temper highly makes up for it!It was similar to Lucky Star in almost every aspect, but it was also a lot better than LS in each of them :D You won't find any 10 minutes useless dialogs on how-to-eat-a-chocolate-cone in Minami-ke, and you'll find characters to be 10 times less cliché. *winksPlus... Lunar Legend Tsukihime

Oct 5, 2009

Originally posted on the forums, on March 4th 2009First, I have to mention that I've read the visual novel last week-end and it totally blew me away, I just loved the complexity of the story and thought that Arcueid was quite a genuine character. So yeah my expectations were quite high. I'd say 8 out of 12 episodes seemed to be written with almost the same script as the game, I really loved those because I could see animated one of the stories... See full review

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien

Oct 5, 2009

Originally posted on the forums on January 5th 2008. I watched Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (KGNE) in one sitting today, and I must say that I'm stunned... After like 10 episodes, I wanted to punch each main character in the face for blatant stupidity, especially Takayuki. But then I understood where they were going with the story, and I just LOVED the ending. It's seriously one of the best ending I've ever seen... Yeah.... I'm a dude and I almost cried...
