After leaving my profile untouched for what seemed to be forever, I've decided to update since it was getting kind of outdated. First a little bit about me. I'm a Dutch student at the IGAD program. I'm learning C++ programming geared towards game developement, and game design in general. Most of my fellow students are geeks as well so I can share my hobbies quite easily.

As of april 2010, I've been watching anime for about 4 years. Started out watching Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist streams on youtube, like most people I guess. Although nowadays I'm afraid I've grown a tad addicted to high quality releases. those 720p H264 encodes are just too delicious.

As for genre's and themes, I'm not that picky. I generally tend to avoid Ecchi and Mecha, but as long as a series is well executed I don't mind watching whatever genres it may cover, including the former mentioned. Over the years, I've started to lean more towards watching short series (up to 26 eps), OVA's and movies. Mostly because they tend to have more progressive stories and better plot developement than long running series, which have the tendency to restore the default situation after every arc and rely more on an ever-changing cast of characters to keep things interesting. My favourite genre's so far have been Fantasy, Psychological, Comedy, Drama, Romance and Tragedy. My usual demographic is Seinen, which is pretty standard, but like with genre's, it doesn't really matter as long as the series is well done. Princess Tutu is a good example of this, a series I would heartily recommend to anyone :)

Besides watching anime I also have some other geeky hobbies. I'm a very passionate Stepmania/DDR player. I step files, play both pad and keyboard, and participate in Heavy tournies whenever I visit a con (never won though, but I think I got pretty close.) I also read manga occasionally, and I've played a few Visual Novels (my favorites so far are Saya no Uta and Umineko.) Recently, I've developed an intereset in playing Mahjong as well (credits for this go to Akagi, Saki and Legend of Koizumi.) I currently own a Mahjong set and play a few games with some people at school on a weekly basis (well, we try to anyway.)
