Alright.. so obviously I like anime. But why, you ask? Because I like to let my imagination run wild. Because I'm a dreamer. Because... I want to believe. I'm a very skeptical person, but anime helps me to keep my mind open, which in turn, helps me to be a better person. So really, it's my form of self-help! >_>;<_<
Now.. How'd I get into Anime? Toonami. Anyone near my age and American should remember Toonami on Cartoon Network. Getting Rebooted, rooting for Tenchi, finding the Dragonballs, running from the Gundams, admiring Kenshin's Reverse Blade sword, and laughing at the Sailor Scouts (don't judge me on the last one, I was young). Ah, but those were the days.. Anywho, so yeah, Toonami was the can opener, and for awhile, it was the can itself. But then I found the internet, and all of a sudden, the can became bottomless..
As for what I watch... I have seen plenty, and still have plenty to see. I generally tend to stay away from Dubs, as I find the English voice action to be unimaginative and wholly lacking (though there are a few exceptions, such as Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop). My favorite types of anime are of the Fantasy, Mecha, Comedy and/or Adventure genres. Some of my favorite anime (in no particular order) are Trigun, One Piece, Ghost in the Shell, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Panic, Hunter x Hunter and almost any Gundam series.
FYI, my anime list is here (though it's nowhere near as up-to-date as here)
