Anime in 200 Words: Naruto Special 1: Find the Crimson Four-Leaf Clover!

Premise: Konohamaru has a crush and he needs Naruto’s help to find a magical four-leaf clover for her. They get in some good training and bonding time.

Characters: Naruto and Konohamaru are on screen the most, and the crush is a filler girl who was never mentioned before, and never shows up again. Poor undeveloped filler girl.

Story: Apparently, red clovers grow in the forest around the Leaf Village, and these rare plants are said to have legendary powers. The plot is the same quality level used for filler episodes; in fact, it reminds me quite a bit of a few of them that revolve around Konohamaru’s kindergarten squad.

Action: There are not really many battles here, and the special relies on humor to fill the time. You might find an interesting jutsu, but if you’re expecting phenomenal battles that reshape the Land of Fire, this isn’t going to deliver.

Overall: Find the Crimson Four-Leaf Clover! is below average for Naruto plots, but while it won’t win any awards, it is moderately entertaining. Unless you’re really committed to watching every Naruto animation, I’d pick something else to watch.
