It was the most recently added anime, had odd artwork, and was 13 minutes long. Why not? So I watched it, and aside from getting an east meets west feel, like one would when putting soy sauce on a plain hamburger, I'm not sure what to think. It wasn't bad, though it wasn't stunning. I gave it a 2.5, middle of the scale score, which is fine and good.
My real problem is: what do I rec it to? I feel like this can't be a unique concept: taking western stories and twisting them to make them japanese (especially since I've seen it done in things like Otogi-Jushi Akazukin), but the truth is that Jack and the Beanstalk doesn't really remind me of anything in particular.
Well, the art kind of reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are, but that's not exactly a rec I can make in here.
If you've got 13 minutes, would you watch it and let me know if you've seen anything similar? It's bothering me. :-/
