Hey ya'll!

Well, I'm just an amateur anime watcher, I'm new here, and I hope I'll have the chance to enjoy my stay here. (this was written 5 years ago, now I'm not so new lol)

My Top 5 Anime (outdated)

  1. Gunslinger Girl
  2. Death Note
  3. Cromartie High School
  4. Elfen Lied
  5. Planetes

I could say Gunslinger Girl kinda dragged me into this, as it was one of my first japanese animation experience. So it'll always stay as my favorite and special anime. After GG titles like Serial Experiments Lain, Paranoia Agent, Elfen Lied and then later Death Note completely made me a fan of this genre. If you haven't seen any of these.. lucky you!

I follow my simple how-much-was-I-entertained rating system. So if I gave Monster, for example, a low score it doesn't mean I think it's a bad anime. It's good, but I found it too slow, didn't like the ending, or any other elements which drags my entertainment level down decides how many stars it'll get. So basically my thoughts after I finish a show are more or less as follows:

3.5 and up - from good to very good, entertaining watch.
3 - average, ok.
2.5 - just plain mediocre.
2 and less - from bad to worst.

Well, Gag Manga really is the ideal show if you are looking for absolutely random stuff with a superb, spastic execution.

Other than that, there's also Sexy Commando Gaiden, which is a pretty similar show to Gag Manga (moreover, by the same director lol) and also one of my favorite comedies ever. Random, frenetic, carefree and hilarious.

Last but not least, I can't recommend Detroit Metal City eno-- ah wait, you already watched and loved it, haha. I think DMC is the most similar series there is to Gag Manga, even moreso than Sexy Commando. Gag Manga uses vulgar = funny nowhere nearly as much as DMC does, but the feel in watching both of them is pretty much the same. The resemblance is so glaring that it was weird for me the same director was not involded in DMC.

Yeah. Cromartie, Sunred and Kikimusume were all really funny. Then again, Gag Manga is like mixing up all of those, adding many housemade ingredients and rising the hilarity to the umpteenth - in my opinion, anyways.

Hetalia is more averagey in my opinion, but I'm really looking forward to Excel Saga =D Also have downloaded Colorful, but Excel is the one I'm anticipating the most.

Yeah, but before you start a franchise you don't know whether that franchise will be great or not, so those with many titles make me lazy. It's all about making the effort and getting started.

Gag Manga Biyori is the fucking pinnacle of comedy in anime, lol. I've laughed to tears countless times while watching this. It takes a certain kind of person to appreciate its kind of humor, but I'm definitely that kind of person and I enjoy this shit to no end. The only comedy anime I could consider its equal in sheer hilarity is Gintama.

Dunno if GMB would be your thing, but being as short as it is I think it's really worth the try. You'll either be 'meh' about it or laugh until some ribs break - take the gamble! =D

Lol. I actually want to watch it, it's just that I don't use my WtW list and franchises with plenty of titles make me lazy... But I'll probably watch it sometime this year.
