Where do I begin?

I have always had a love and fascination for animation. The very first movie I saw in the theater was An American Tail. Granted I was 3 so I don't remember much, but ever since then I have been a huge fan of animated movies and TV shows. I still watch Cartoon Network... although not to much lately since I got rid of my TV. Any way, I never thought much of anime growing up. Actually I didn't know it existed. I did watch shows like Noozles, The Adventures of Little Koala, Maya the Bee, and Transformers, but I did so without realizing they were anime. I don't think I really realized what anime was until DBZ and Sailor Moon became popular. But I didn't really like these shows, and once the mega hit Pokemon came out, I was under the impression that all anime was either fighting shows or for kids/girls... All except one title. I remember cruising the isles of my local video store when I saw the box cover for Ghost in the Shell. Even though I was 12ish, I still realized that this was something different (and not just because of the cleavage either :P ). I read the back, getting the gist of the story, and put the tape back on the shelf. There was no way my prudish mom was going to rent it for me, so I vowed that when I was old enough, I was going to rent it myself. Fast forward 4 years, I was hanging out with one of my friends from school when I saw some movies in his backpack. I asked him what they were, to which his reply was "Japanese cartoons". Before I even had a chance to make fun I saw that one of the tapes was Ghost in the Shell, the very same that I had vowed to watch oh so many years prior. After he let me borrow them, I raced home and popped it in. I don't think Ive ever seen an anime that had the same effect as GitS did that day. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. The animation was top notch, the music haunting, and story very intriguing. Loving the anime high, I proceeded to watch the other two movies i borrowed back to back. They happened to be Perfect Blue and Ninja Scroll. 9 years later I'm still a fan (although my tastes have changed quite a bit since then).

Dude, welcome back! :D And so glad you watched Major in the end. Man, I miss looking forward to it every year. Had there been a seventh season, we would have been awaiting it in April. *sigh* But still how have you been? What did you do while you were away?

Looks like me trying to be inactive is not going too well. Thought I'd drop by and wish you a good new year while I was at it. :) Still not watched any Major?

My friend finally linked me to some good songs that might work for Major AMV.

1) Drowning Pool - Bodies (at some point they sing 'one, two, three', which might work really well with the strikeout idea).

2) Godsmack - I stand alone (cause Goro's the ONLY ace!)

OR

3) I'm not even sure this'll work, but I lolled hard when a friend recommended going totally cheese with Stan Bush - You Got the Touch (HAHAHA)

Anyway, I think any of those would work better than Queen, cause it's just not visceral enough. You'll get what I mean when you finish watching the series. :)

I was going to say that's incredibly cliche, because I thought of using that song on the bus home today. But I'm listening to it as I type and I can see it working. It's sound is particularly appropriate and so are the lyrics. Hmmm... big dilemma. But you're the boss!

When you watch Major, you will know what I mean. Not ONLY are the characters great, not ONLY is the story great, but the games are ALWAYS gripping. I'm about to review fifth season and MY GOD THE GAMES ARE OUTSTANDING. Only the fourth season is a bit weak.

To be fair, for an AMV, you might want to consider that the main character grows older across seasons. So in the first he's a little boy, but in the fifth he's a grown man. That might influence how you want to structure the AMV.

By the way, did I mention how sexually excited I'm getting at the idea of a Major AMV? No, I don't think you do. *happy sigh* So glad you're doing me this favour. I think a song will come to you when you watch the show, it's likely to fit with a hard rock theme than anything else, because a lot of the background music involves stadium rock type riffs and DISTORTION. Lol. ^_^
