Alrighty then, let's start with something simple and not needing a whole explaination as to why I don't like Aikatsu! and Chou Soku Henkei Gyrozetter. Simply they're both generic anime with a generic premise.
Aikatsu! : After the sucess of AKB0048, I went into this still new to the pop idol genre and there are plenty of idol anime that I still gotten into, for example idolm@ster something, something. So what is wrong with this anime... It's a blantant rip-off of AKB. Aside the whole mechs, an actual plot, character development, and more importantly, fantastic music, this one tried to copy off the whole CGI music video and what I mean by this is that whenever they are about to do their song, they go into CGI mode and OMG is it that terrible. Not only that but boring as well. Usually, this would happen at the finale of an episode but my issue is how poorly they executed their music video... The CGI looks terrible and whenever they do their little dance routine, it's just "bleh". Ok, maybe it wasn't intentionally trying to copy off of AKB but when I saw the first episode and the CGI, I immediately thought, "Hey they're duplicating AKB but its so awful" and such... After a poor excuse of CGI, they also copied the Akari's opening from Yuru Yuri... Seriously, can't think of any ideas that you have to steal from the successful anime? Anyways, the characters are bland, forgettable. And the story, it's just your heroine trying to be the best idol she could ever dream to be, along with the whole school slice of life. Animation... well, it's colorful and decent, I'll give it that but because of the CGI, well it's CGI. CGI in anime should never mesh. NEVER!
Chou Soku Henkei Gyrozetter : Oh boy, how am I laughing at this anime. I knew it would be terrible but they could at least try to spice this up instead of giving us cliche. Instead we got ourselves a blantant rip-off! Let's see where they copy things from. You got cards inhancing their mechs, reminding me of Digimon : Tamers (which is an awesome series), they have cars that turns into giant mechs from Transformers and you have a generic everything about it! It's like watching something that 4Kids would pick up and add to their already terrible Saturday lineup (EPIC FORESHADOWING). You have your cliche characters, the eccentric hero with a catchphrase; depressingly, your chubby bestfriend, a female character that would obviously be your love interest, a cool character and the calm collective character. Along with idotic adults, who for some reason wants children to drive cars that tuns into mecHs to save the world from evil people who also drives cars that tuns to mech but they're evil cars. All brought upon by a cliche prophecy that specifically said they're names and bam, you're the chosen one... ಠ_ಠ
Some of you may be asking why I bother watching these anime. Simple, I am a perfectionist, unfortunately. If I didn't give a damn, I would had dropped it in a heartbeat. You then may ask why did I dropped other anime. Simple, they're much, much worse than these anime. Yes, this may sound contradictory but who cares, I ain't gonna watch a whole anime CGI based, here's looking at you Kingdom... I'll eventually watch my dropped anime but hey, whose gonna notice. Stay tune for more content.
