Nothing too much to say here, I'm a 17 year old guy from Norway who is slowly but surely turning into an otaku;)
My simple rating system:
0,5 - 2 stars = Crap
2,5 - 3,5 stars = Ok
4 - 4,5 stars = Good
5 stars = Superb

Black Rock Shooter got popular mostly because of a song by Hatsune Miku, the first Vocaloid to be released in Japan.
Here's the song in question!
You should definitely read the KissxSis manga then, it's so much funnier than the OVA OR TV series.
Blue Literature is something not every fan might enjoy (even though it's one of my favorites of 2009), but I'd definitely recommend Durarara!! to you, it's awesome (or Baccano!, same creators, even more badass fun).
Loved One Piece, Naruto Shippuuden and Kino's journey as well :D
Wolf's Rain and Elfen Lied weren't half bad either!
Hehe, well, I DO get why people would love it. If those recent-years
ecchi / harem shows are favorites of yours, Himari really wasn't half
bad. What do you think about recently aired shows like Blue Literature (or even more recently, Durarara!!)?
Yes I did, and I upped it by a whole star :P Well, average rating isn't always much to go by anyway (unless, of course, your taste matches the masses in every genre).
I DID enjoy parts of the show, but it brought absolutely nothing new to the table. Everything has been done before, often better. For ecchi shows to work for me, it has to have something likeable, besides the smexiness.
That said, I hated Omamori's lead, and everything was horribly cliché. It wasn't -out there- enough to be funny for its badness, but wasn't exciting in any way either. Decently executed clichés, but clichés nonetheless.
Anyway, you get the general idea :P I thought it wasn't the worst show of the season, but something I'll forget about in a few months ^_^
