All the shonen mainees seem to be Awesome, Different, Great and so on. What about Kenichi? :(
Kenichi is the main character of History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. I just finished the anime. As for the manga, I've read to ~the moment the anime ends, so I shall speak only for that Kenichi. And that Kenichi is ultimately... empty. Boring. No one. You know, yes, every shonen mainee loves his nakama and never gives up... It's a given. Kenichi is like that, too, but that's not smth special. Other than that, he has nothing. Nothing!
Luffy stays in your mind because of his unique sense of justice, his image of the true pirate and his minus IQ.
Naruto is special because of everything he has/d experienced, because of his purposefulness, and his skill to persuade people.
Yoh is interesing because of his prehension, because he wants the biggest thing to achieve the smallest, because he is able to see people's souls through their eyes... And from time to time loses his battles!!
Edward is one of the most loved mainees because of his intelligence, skill... He has an opinion for matters most mainees can't even begin to understand, like philosophy of life and religion :), the fire in his eyes... And because he is a chibi. :>
Gon is liked because he doesn't accuse his father for leaving him, the opposite, he follows his bright and kind model. He is the most pure and clean soul, and with it amazes all experienced and strong around him...
And so on, and so on. Perhaps you'll say Kenichi is amazing because of the acknowledgement of his masters and because in spite of his puny personality, in times of danges he turns into a hero... But that's not exactly an achievement anymore. Shonen mainees have to be MORE unique. I hope he is more unique in the manga.
