about me

Welcome to my profile.

Please call me Karasu. I'm married to Itachi Uchiha. I'm also a moderator for the anime and character databases here on Anime-Planet. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. :)

I am fond of: shounen, tournamentsjosei, horror, fighting, action, bubble blowersStudio Bones, noitaminA, Mamoru Miyano, Yoshihiro Togashispear wielders, Shinto, Feudal Japan, samurai, large castsdual wieldersdelinquents, women in suitssweet tooths, stupid terroristsmilitary womensuspense, random cats

Stalled list: Anything that is listed as stalled is something I intend to pick back up at some point in time. If episodes are currently unavailable, the anime will be listed as stalled. This happens often with OVAs. If I grow tired of a series but don't want to completely drop it, then it will also be listed as stalled.

Dropped list: I generally give something 3 - 5 episodes before I consider dropping it, however there are a few that I gave up on even after the first episode. I don't intend to pick up anything under this list, but on rare occasions I may give a dropped title another try.

Won't Watch list: The only things found under this list would be sequels, OVAs, movies and/or specials of an anime that I don't care to watch anymore of.

My ratings are based off of pure enjoyment.

If it was me playing, I probably would continue until I beat it (I wouldn't take a break for another game). Be more persistent, Karasu! But then again, I have no idea how much time you sadly wasted and would have to recover. xD Gamefly's cool, but I prefer owning my games to ensure I can play them at a moment's notice. Plus, I know I'll get my money's worth, so I'd rather spend the whole $30 - 50 than whatever they charge you per month. On a monthly basis, I purchase 1 - 3 games (1 being extremely common, 2 being slightly uncommon, and 3 being rare), though I kinda exclude games that only cost about $3 - 5 because so they're so cheap, hehe.

RPGs are my calling. I actually started to really get obsessed with them a few years back and am making my way towards purchasing and beating every JRPG I'm truly interested in. My biggest backlog is on the PS3 since it continues to release new games, but I have merely a handful left for the PS2 (yay!). I'm not too far behind in the 3DS since, luckily, it's a new system. DS I still have a ways to go... Got a big backlog for the PSX too... PS Vita I have no games left to beat at the moment (there's a bunch releasing soon and later this year). Then there's the PC, yeah, far behind... But I'm working on them and trying to become a JRPG master!

Well, I WAS a big fan of horror movies from elementary school into high school, where I then focused my interests on anime. But I just could never get into shooting games. I'm desensitized to fictional violence/gore/whatever as a result of heavy horror movie watching, so that's not what bothers me. It's one thing to watch it and be uninvolved, but another to actively kill other people or become wrapped up in life or death situations yourself (even though it's not real). That's what I don't enjoy about the shooting genre or really any game with "extreme" violence. I guess you could say since I can never project myself onto my character, I'm incapble of immersing myself in those games, and in turn, I can't find the fun.

Ugh, yeah, "hack and slash" is what it appeared to me. I haven't played many, but the ones I did I was not fond of. And yeah, I noticed the dragon who was seemingly overpowered. Lol You loved the story? Stories are a big reason why I play JRPGs, but I admit I didn't bother looking into the game's plot before looking at gameplay videos and deciding, "Nope. Done!". The trailers for the game are what's forming my undecisiveness; I plan on waiting for reviews, friend recommendations, and gameplay videos before my final decison.

I'm curious too; I guess we'll find out next week! Er, when do you plan on buying it? I have it on preorder, haha. Oh, you're going to beat Dead Space first? Hope you can finally finish it! I've always disliked shooters (basically, games with the intention to kill other humans), with the sole exception of the Star Wars Battlefront series (maybe because I don't see them to be nearly as violent, there's no blood, etc?) My friends have always tried to get me into them (Gears of War especially, it was alright), but aside from the violence being a reason I don't play them, I really, REALLY suck at them too. >_<

"The gameplay isn't the best"... Yeeeah, that's what turned me off from starting the series from the beginning. I watched some gameplay videos of the first one just a couple weeks ago actually and I thought to myself that battling was way too repetitive and uninteresting, even for an early PS2 game, though the flying dragon aspect interested me a tad. I'm still undecided about Drakengard 3, though I'm leaning more towards no, at least definitely not an immediate purchase.

Haha xD

That's good. Oh, I know what you mean >.< Been really cold over here too (right after we had a few 50 degree days), and yes, it's weird how that happens, isn't it?

Hopefully it gets warmer where you are soon! :)

What's new?

I've always loved the art in the Atelier series, be it the colorful chibi sprites in the PS2 games or the beautiful designs in the PS3 games. The setting in Escha interests me as well, though that's because I want to know more about the world that the characters from Ayesha live in (plus apparently there's airships, something Atelier has never included before since it's been more about fantasy, less sci-fi). However, EVERY Atelier game is about a person/a small group rediscovering the lost art of alchemy and attempting to cultivate it once again, if that's part of what you found interesting.

Haha, I was ready to claim it whenever the season was coming up (just didn't realize it was spring, not summer!).

I have not. I'm aware of the games and have watched gameplay videos of the first one (REALLY didn't interest me), but I've also been sort of paying attention to information about the new third game. I'm not typically a fan of violent games, so I probably won't buy it. Why do you ask?

Since you called me "super awesome," I shall answer any questions you have!

Nope, you don't need to play any of the other Atelier games to get into the franchise. While Atelier Escha and Logy is the second in the Dusk series, you needn't play Atelier Ayesha - the first in the Dusk series - to understand since Escha and Logy have a new cast of characters. It's a better experience overall to play in order (Ayesha first, then Escha and Logy), but you'll have just as much fun as you would without having played it. All that you'll be missing out on is how the alchemy system has evolved from the prequel and knowing more about the characters from Ayesha who will appear in Escha and Logy as a few years older (though, if it's anything like previous series, they won't be as plot central as the new characters in Escha, so it won't matter much anyways).

BTW, what about Escha and Logy is "calling" you? To be honest, I have higher expectations for this game than the others, but that's only because it's bringing back the "two protagonists" thing and battle elements from the PS2 games.
