Say "I love you."

Bokura ga Ita

Both deal with being IN the relationship, rather then stalling for half the series for the ping pong romantic build up. So you actually get to see the couples in love. The male lead is significantly more popular than the female lead. Both are well written and really capture what it's like to be in love, and learning how to be in a relationship and make it work. 'Say I love you' does a wonderful job of showing weakness, self esteem, and the details that people go through in order to be social, or just simply liked. Anyone that's ever felt bullied, lonely, unwanted, unatractive, or socially stressed will find these animes comforting, especially 'say i love you'.

Beck

Nana is far more relationship forward. Romance, hookups, multiple relationships happen. Beck is far more slice of life in that aspect. I don't think you'd get you romantic anime fix from Beck, however you will get your good anime fix. Beck has a rare setting for anime that is a real world. No oversized eyes with mini skirted school uniforms in Beck. Instead you get references too The Beatles, the whole British invasion, and a band that sounds like Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Nana's drama comes from the relationships, Beck's happens more within the band. Both have unique animation styles, great music, good characters, and a rather realistic world. Nana more feminine, Beck more masculine. I enjoyed both.

Both animes have a watercolored look and a more femenine style. They deal with relationships and the romance isn't  predictable.

Both animes are very slice of life through a growing up age. Although romance is important, it doesn't completely rule the show. In real life romnce is an important factor, but we still have other things going on. Both deal with relationships of all sorts and growing up in general.

Samurai Champloo

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy bebop is older by ABOUT a decade, so the animation for Samurai Champloo  will be an upgrade. However both animes have some of the best voice acting in anime. If you're a fan of Steve Blum, the voice of Spike and Mugen you'll love it. All characters are well developed, these animes have their own style, and probably the best anime soundtracks you'll come across. I'dsay they both have a far more English style than anime is known to have.

Kuragehime

Both animes have social hermits for main characters, working to improve their comical mental health with a potential romantic interest. They both are well done and directed in a way that can be rare. And they have more tricks for comedy than chibis, actually pretty hilarious.
