Thank you for pointing me at Jinrui, lol. I wasn't sure how I felt about it after one episode, but two has made me decide I like it, mostly because the protagonist/narrator is perfection at flat delivery. I will be looking forward to that one every week as long as the first two episodes are representative (shows which appeal out of weirdness can easily fall into disfavor; the uncrossed lines are thin indeed).
SAO looks like it'll be fun. I was worried it'd be my first long-running shounen but word on the street is they're only aiming for two seasons (ambiguous as to 26 or 52 eps). I also read that the protagonist isn't too teenager-y, a hope to which I will fervently cling. I was amused by the fact that both main characters in the first episode had avatars barely differing from their real appearances, and yet somehow wholly struggled to recognize one another ;p
I am also optimistic about Tari Tari and Kokoro Connect, although I'm actually more worried about the latter than the former - it looks like it's going to be a "come to understand others' personal situations by living them" rather than a "lol bodyswap" sort of ordeal, but the atmosphere of these things always starts out pretty nebulous. I liked Tari Tari quite a bit, on the other hand, and I think I'll like it the whole way through (was kinda surprised to see you hesitant on that one).
Uta Koi I have read nothing about, but I'll do some scouring since it's on your maybe list. Arcana Famiglia, who the hell has a filler second episode? I read it's based on an otome game, so hopefully it's more drama-like and less a mashup of Persona and a shoddy slice of life. Dem dreamy dudes so niiiiice
The one other I started was Natsuyuki Rendezvous. Pros: Romance anime involving goddamn adults, hilarious ghost character. Cons: Hella awkward, not sure where they're going to go. The jury is out on this one, but I'll prolly stick to it just 'cause I'm so sick of high schoolers.
You'll notice I'm basically just watching everything that's on Crunchyroll. To that, I say... yeah, pretty much. I decided to subvert the stereotype and buy a subscription there (legal Horriblesubs for life!)
I can do that, because I am going to have an income next year. Hell yes.
There was one more thing listed on the big list at ANN but it fell through or something? Aruvu Rezuru, I think. So much for that. Oh yeah, and I'm watching the MuvLuv show by accident. I saw it and was like, oh, that's the VN people frequently call the best of all time!... but it was just an adaptation of some alternate history spinoff novel or something. So far it's been gruesome and ungodly fast-paced (no characterization, no elaboration on plot points, just shady military and hella mechas). Dunno how far I'll roll with it but it only costs half an hour a week to find out.
Hope you're having fun with your research. がんばって
Lol, I hadn't seen it yet, but I watched it on YouTube and it was pretty awesome. Goddamn monocles, man. Although it wouldn't have taken much to make it better than the hella awkward and unfittingly hypersexual first ED. Hyouka itself has kinda been a weird show; I facepalmed hard at the first few episodes' "mysteries" and the oh-so-deep "we all scream for ice cream," but I've since started to quite enjoy watching it every week. I thought that the horror movie arc and the onsen arc were both good, so here's hoping that continues. Otherwise, I'll... keep watching it anyways because it's KyoAni.
So now that the first episodes of most of the summer shows have aired, tell me what you're into this season, bro
...pretty much. Personally I started to like the series more when it got twisted, but when I was showing it to my brother/sister they both got pretty pissed off and totally hated Nanami's character. YMMV, I suppose.
Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy that show, 'cause I had a great time watching it the first time. It's kinda annoying thematically, but as entertainment I found it enthralling despite the fact that it's 90% talking (Bakemonogatari much?)
Mostly the latter; I don't read much to begin with (shocker!)
Lol, I actually thought a few of the earlier episodes were hilarious. It's more that I liked some and hated some, and on the whole it got progressively more random and fanservicey so I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.
