Felicitations, comrades!

Anime has been with me, in some form or another, throughout my entire life.  From my early childhood with Megaman, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon, to my secondary school days with Tenchi Muyo!, Dragon Ball Z, and Rurouni Kenshin, to my present station as a lawyer with artsy Mamoru Oshii films, classy 70's space operas, and Space Dandy, anime has always kept me entertained and in great company!  I adore the classics, but I never shy away from exploring the latest and most innovative anime.  My favorite genres are sci-fi, fantasy, and drama, but I've enjoyed shows and films from every genre.  I love attending anime conventions, and have even cosplayed on several occasions!  I always appreciate interacting with my fellow anime fans, both in real life and online, so feel free to start a conversation with me any time, and I will try to respond as soon as possible.

Six years ago, I made the decision to not simply passively enjoy anime, but to actively seek out and learn as much as I could about this fantastic art form.  It has been a long and fruitful journey, with many ups and downs experienced, friends made, and hours questionably spent, but I still have so much more to see!  Because of this, I always appreciate recommendations and opinions from my fellow enthusiasts, so if there is a show or movie that you think should be on my "to watch list," please feel free to share it with me.  I eagerly look forward to continuing my anime education here at anime-planet, and to adding my voice to the conversation of our favorite medium!

A note about my ratings system:

Being a fan of not just anime, but audiovisual entertainment in general, I don't rate anime exclusively against other anime.  The ratings I give are meant to indicate how I think each individual entry stacks up against the entire specturm of television and film, regardless of origin, age, or genre.  This sometimes results in a very good anime recieving a lower rating than it would have otherwise recieved had it been rated only against other anime, but I feel that this method is the best way for me to accurately guage the true overall quality of a show or movie.

0.5-2.0: These are the shows and movies that I wish I hadn't watched.  Their negative features greatly outweigh their positives, and I would not recommend them to the general public.

2.5: Shows and movies with this rating are either utterly forgettable, or just as bad as they are good.  I don't necessarily regret watching them, but I have no intention of watching them again anytime soon.

3.0-4.0: These entries caught my interest and were overall enjoyable.  They have their flaws, but are worth taking the time to watch.

4.5-5.0: Shows and movies with these ratings are the best of the best.  What flaws they may have are completely overshadowed by their qualities.
