Gravitation Thoughts

9 SEP
2009

I see Gravitation as a Shounen-ai lovers must watch. Trust me my shounen-ai loving part of myself was satisfied.

Gravitations story was something that I truly liked. It felt deep and had meaning while keeping itself light with very few, if any, dark tones(the almost consistent funny moments helped here). I usually found myself grinning and laughing over three quarters of the time, the other one forth was being annoyed or curious. So what is the story you may ask? Shindou Shuichi and his band, Bad Luck, are trying to become the #1 band in Japan. While trying not only to accomplish this goal, Shuichi is trying to capture the heart of Yuki Eiri, a popular romance novelist.(Read A-Ps description) Will Bad Luck become number one? Will Shuichi finally win Yuki over? Who knows, you'll have to see for yourself.

Ah the characters, I'll give the makers credit. They did a bloody hell of a better job than I expected. I found myself liking each one from the start(Even with Shuichi being quite annoying at times). Each made Gravitation, Gravitation. From the funny moments, to embarrassing and to the more serious times, the charatcers always fit.

Sound on Gravitation played a huge part. Being about a band and music I was dreading that it would turn out to be unpleasing but, to my suprise, I loved it. The op was heard often but it's not one you can really get tired of. The characters voices were well matched so no complaints there. (A bit of a warning, Shuichi may get on some of yalls nerves at times....).

Animation was definitly nothing extrodinary but still eye-applealing. small warning: some of the unexpected outfits Shuichi wears may make some mentally disturbed (only sometimes and in a small way, no worries). Background and surrounding animation was... well to be honest I was more focused on the charaters. I guess you can say that it wasnt that noticable.

Overall, I loved it :p Though it may be one that I enjoyed and wouldnt mind watching again, it can't beat Junjou Romantica in my opinion. (Here comes my argue against myself side; you cant compare them!) Anyways, for you shounen-ai lovers add this to your list of soon to watch list. With nice animation, rockin sound and a really nice storyline that acually has an ending(!) you can't go wrong.

Gawd. This looks like a mini-review or something in a rushed version o.0. So here comes my usual question(suprise), your opinion? Love, hate, so-so, agree, or disagree? I wanna know, so tell me! Chow for now :]

I've been meaning to watch this, as I've seen zero shounen-ai anime yet, am far from homofobic and this seems to have gotten plenty of thumbs up from people.

This blog just made it go up a couple of spots on my "to watch next" list ^_^
