Thanks for stopping by.

I've been watching anime most days for sixteen years now. It's added a lot to my life, even though not everything I've seen has been good.

I saw anime on television as a little kid, but once I became more interested in it, I watched everything on DVD. It took a lot of effort to make sure new DVDs arrived in time to avoid disrupting my schedule. To this day, I prefer to watch on hard copy, although I do use streaming services sometimes.

Here's my personal rating scale:

5/5 stars: highest artistic merit

4.5/5 stars: high merit

4/5 stars: substantial merit

3.5/5 stars: modest merit

3/5 stars: slight merit

2.5/5 stars or lower: negligible merit

I have mixed feelings about using a numerical rating, because stories set out to do such different things and use such different approaches that placing them on a single scale is like comparing apples and oranges. I also think that factors beyond the story--the viewer's mood, personality, and personal history, for example--play an enormous role in enjoyment or lack thereof. Numerical ratings can't capture those factors easily. With that said, numerical ratings are so useful for organizing anime that I still use them.

Please bear in mind that I rated some anime when I was quite a bit younger. The rating I have marked for an older anime probably isn't the rating I would give it if I watched it again now. That's one reason why I rewatch my favorite series periodically.

Enjoy your anime!

Hehe, no I don't think so ;)

Not entirely sure. There are so many that I love. I'm quite partial to Ginji Amano or Train Heartnet, but then there's Ryusuke Minami.

Thanks, it's great to be welcomed!!  And yes, it is a great thing to be anime-and-manga-obsessed XD

Thanks for the observation. I've had quite a bit of time to build up that number. I'm actually quite surprised that the number was so high.
