While i've been watching anime on a consistent basis, I haven't really been keeping track of it. I think keeping a blog like this will be fun, though!
Right now, I'm on Episode 7 of Nadia. I'd been hearing about this show on and off for many years - especially about its similarity to Atlantis: The Lost Empire, which is one of my favorite movies - and so when it came up in my watchlist I was excited to see it. I watched the first episode awhile back, so watching that again was like a breath of fresh air. I saw the first two in dub form, and then switched to the sub because the dub is kind of unbearable. It's an adventurous, twisty, plot-driven show - not as much about the destination as it is about the journey, three kids trying to solve Nadia's mystery. It's not really what I expected, but I love the ride, anyway. It does have the feeling of being restricted by its network airing, but I love it all the same, even if its pacing is slow and its content stilted.
Right now they're stuck on this island with a bunch of cape guys and they're trying to reunite and there's this extended sequence about food. I'm suspicious of Nadia being treated this way...I know from spoilers that she's a princess of Neo Atlantis but I'm going to pretend I don't! The mid-show bumpers are really annoying.
I'm suspicious of the cape guys suddenly treating Nadia, Marie, and King so well now that they know where the Blue Water is...I almost feel like it's a trap and I'd be surprised if it wasn't. Okay, looks like it wasn't, but only because this guy wanted to show off to them.
Looks like this guy has some sort of quasibiblical agenda - WAIT. Sodom and Gomorrah and the Tower of Babel were two TOTALLY separate stories. They were, like, thousands of years removed from each other. C'mon, dude, brush up on your bible before you start thumping it! :( I don't know what these people's problem is, which I guess the idea. All I can tell is that Jean and Nadia just cannot help but get stuck in deep shit. And Nadia has a great propensity for not getting out of it.
Wow, there SURE are a lot of people who want to destroy the world! One thing I love here is that I have no idea what's going to happen next. Wait WHAT? 12,000 year old satellites? Bright shiny stuff? Islands? LOOKS LIKE WE FOUND THE PLOT!
Okay, episode's over! Overall, awesome, and leaves me wanting more, like a good adventure story should! Can't say I'm crazed about it though.
