"Plot grows out of character. If you focus on who the people in your story are, if you sit and write about two people you know and are getting to know day by day, something is bound to happen."
---Anne Lamott, bird by bird
Oh hi. So. How are you holding up? Because I'M a POTATO. You've come to my profile for some reason.
Don't get scared away just because I have so many anime marked at won't watch-- I'm open to any opinion you may have as long as you have a good reason behind it (typing with correct grammar and spelling also helps). If you nearly fell out of your seat because I marked one of your favorites as won't watch, and you must change that immediately, I won't discourage you at all. I typically don't watch stuff full of gore, though. I'm ok with a little ecchi as long as it isn't the focus of the series.
Putting that aside, my favorite genres are slice-of-life, romance, drama, and supernatural. My first anime was Cardcaptor Sakura. I started in 8th grade, and I haven't stopped since then. I love anime that makes me question life or cry, and I appreciate a crisp, bright style of animation.
I've been getting back into manga lately. I go to Half-Price Books sometimes and just read from their section. I like physically holding the books, so I prefer owning volumes instead of reading online. If I don't find it at a used bookstore, though, I'll read it on one of the many manga sites.
I also like games. Feel free to add me on steam (Bramblestar427), just tell me who you are in advance. I'm a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series (but I only have a computer and a DS, so I've never played the main titles). Here's my backloggery: backloggery.com/bramblestar (pretty pitiful, I know. It'll get better.) Vocaloids are pretty cool as well. :3
I've never taken Japanese in school, so I only know a few words. I personally think this is a blessing because schools don't teach foregin langauges very well-- they should be learned based on immersion, not conjugating verbs. Who conjugates verbs in their daily speech? I only know what certain moods (like the subjunctive) mean because I study that kind of thing in my spare time. Sometimes a random Japanese word will pop up in my head, and I'll think I've made it up. Later I'll find out that it's not only a real word, but it means exactly what I think it means! That's what anime can do. :)
I'm going to be an English teacher later in life. If you need help with something, comment, and I'll see what I can do. :D
I also write stories. Tell me if you'd like to read some, and I'll tell you what I'm working on.

That's interesting!
Like the quote you have by Anne Lamott. It describes why anime works so well! From your other line it looks like you've played Portal. Epic game!
What anime are you looking at watching now?
Hello!! :D
My avatar is Mikuru from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. She's one of my favorite characters from that show. I like your avatar as well! What's your avatar from?
Thank you for the compliment and you are most welcome! X3
Konnichiwa!
Its an awesome game not just because of the idea of making portals but GLaDOs gives the game a lot of life and excitement with her quotes! GLaDOs is the best thing about the portal series! "The Cake is a Lie" was popularized from this game
It seems there are a lot of series you won't watch. I'm just curious why. I won't judge you on your list. Even if you dislike a show I like. I'm not very judgemental at all. There's all types of anime for all types of people which is the best thing!
I do have to say some of my favorite shows were shows I initially disliked. Naruto for example I hated it at 1st and wouldn't give it a chance but after seeing an episode one day I watched the whole series, loved it and developed my anime obssesion.
What's the anime you are watching about races? It sounds very interesting. And if its about the debates with racisim I'd like to watch it as well. Probally won't be able to see it anytime soon as there are other animes I need to finish watching lol.
Yeah, the mind seems to go through phases on what type of shows it wants to watch. If you enjoy what you're watching and are able to switch between 2 or more different animes then its awesome!
I would like to see the new anime coming out this season, yet I've been spending a lot of my time watching older generation anime. There are many animes I wish to watch and I want to catch up by seeing some anime from the Neon Genesis/Sailor Moon generation of anime. So much of my childhood gone! lol I bet there will be awesome new anime/manga being released as well which I will get to.
