In 2004, picking up the first volume of the 'Love Hina' was probably the worst and best decisions of my life. Good because it opened my eyes and mind to the new world of manga/anime and bad as it spelt certain death to my savings plan.
It wasn't long after I'd mowed down several manga series (working in a bookshop has it perks sometimes =D ) that my brother stepped into the scene with the innocent sounding 'I've joined a sci-fi/anime club at Uni'. As I was working full-time at the time I thought I was safe from his interests but I couldn't have been more wrong. After being forced to watch the first DVD of RahXephon (Bro: 'I've just watched this series, it's awesome. You've got to watch it!) I found I didn't need forcing to finish the rest.
And now here I am today, ripping through anime series weekly and keenly seeking out others that are just dying to be watched. Even backpacking hasn't stopped me as I've managed to keep watching round friends houses and homestays and I can't will I get back home so I can get back home so I can rewatch all my favourites.
As a side note, getting into anime and manga has also got me into j-pop and anime soundtracks which I listen to devotely around the world via help from a memory stick and Anime Academy Radio =).
