I thought the show started with a nice vibe, with Yuu and Fuuka's growing realationship, the formation of the band and Yuu learning to play bass. But sadly it soon gets bogged down with a focus on Koyukiv who's Yuu's childhood friend and a pop idol. For me it's less of a realistic love triangle and more of the case that the show just really ignored most of the original set up for Yuu and Fuuka for a number of episodes.
There's a certain predictability to where this anime is going which it can't avoid either. Unless you have read the manga because the anime completely changes what happens at a key point and goes for the crowd pleasing ending. I understanding why they did it for a twelve episode show but the manga carried so much more depth where as the anime comes off as fairly lightweight.
It's not that I think this is a bad show, it's just an average one which could have been deeper and more meaningful so therefore it feels like a missed opportunity.
Still if you haven't read the manga then you may find this a pleasing if not too demanding watch.
Story
Nothing too special and fairly predictable, occasionally moving scenes though. Overall it felt a little disjointed to me.
Animation
The character designs are good, the animation is of a fairly high standard.
Sound
Since this is essentially a music anime, there are a number of songs which personally I enjoyed. The score also has one or two good themes, the voice work on this anime whilst nothing special was pretty good.
Characters
Overall some good characters but no-one especially unique or memorable, I would have liked a bit more backstory on some of the supporting characters also.
Oddities/Observations
In the first and third episodes there are some really unnecessary fanservice scenes. I have nothing against fanservice but they just seemed really out of place with the rest of the show.
Yuu had the look of a young Paul McCartney about him, I'm sure this must have be intentional.
