Witch Hunter Robin

This on of a kind anime - as far as I know you won't find anything similar in spite of the numerous recommendations. The animation is very realistic and you can feel the mystery and darkness of the series almost to the very end. Although there are lighter moments you would not see a single joke or a character even smiling throughout the series. There is an interesting mix of almost realistic occult symbols and implements at times as well as some occult references (and probably some more I or the authors did not quite get).At the end the mysteries are revealed so it's not as much interesting anymore but the... Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase

This is one of the most absurd things I have seen, in spite of its length. The story revolves around an almost normal boy who happens to be born to a family with spiritual powers. He meets a very cute girl in a ruined castle he photographs - a vampire. From there on the fun starts. There are both funny and serious facets to the story of their evolving relationship. Although there are a few scenes which I could make without overall the series is very well done.

This is a very mysterous anime. I would describe it more like an animated poem about life, deat and eternity than an actual story.Classical music is featured almost all the time throughout the OVA.The animation is either very low budget or very old or both so it is quite sketchy . On the other hand it has interesting color contrasts.Certainly not for everybody but if you like to collect odd anime give this one a try.
