Kodocha

19 NOV
2011

I had been wanting to write a special blog entry on the anime "Kodomo no Omocha" (Kodocha, Child's Toy) for a little while now, so I'm starting now.  I may come back and add more later as well.  I guess it's just that this particular anime has been so impacting to me that I'd like to share the reasons why.

I first watched it Dubbed a year or so ago.  I only watched it until I got somewhere in the 80s of the episides (ep 81, 82, etc.)  Since I started watching it dubbed, I wasn't used to the Japanese cast at 51, so I lost interest at first.  But not to long ago, I watched it again, this time the story in its entirety (102 eps in all).  Heh.. I still watched the first 50 eps in Dub, though, cause the Funimation English cast for it rocks.

For some folks, I suppose it'd be hard to get past the old-style anime art and obnixious little girl (Sana Karata) screaming and twirling all of the time, but as the story goes on, you really get involved in layers of depth with this anime.  After the first few sub-stories, like the rowdy classroom one, the Akito's home troubles, and such, the plots really become like a page-turning novel.  The goofiness and fun found throughout it all becomes a lot more  well-timed.  Eventually, if you've watched it all the way up to "Mama's" promised novel story, you'll be surprised how deep this anime goes with its characters.  (starting to sound like a review, but hey.. it kinda is.)

Like I said before, I plan to add more to this entry, but not yet.  I'm hungry, it's still pretty early in the morning, and my baby daughter wants to play.  *^_^*
