hi, i stumbled on your profile and i thought let's say hi ^^
hoe gaat het met je? :-)
I agree with you, anime that run (too) long are not my favorites. For me, it's mostly because the writers are unable to fill all episodes with the same quality and often resort to 'filler arcs'. Useless episodes that do absolutly nothing for the story and are just there to make the anime run longer. I either have to be really curious abouthow the story ends (or continues) or really like the characters, to be able to continue watching those series.
True, some anime make it, some don't, but the longer the anime runs, the more likely people will talk about it (and continue to talk about it). It's not that short(er) anime can't have a buzz, it's just that with those the buzz tends do die out rather quickly because at some point there is nothing new to discuss.
I'm too lazy to go and sell stuff. Besides, I don't have that much 'obsolete' stuff I want to sell anyway. Guess one of the reasons for that is that I don't have much room for stuff anyway, be it obsolete or necessary ^_^
Whether the commotion about Bleach and One Piece is justified I don't know. I'm leaning towards no for Bleach and perhaps for One Piece, but that could just be me. I think it has to do with the fact that both series (three if you count Naruto (Shippuuden) aswell) are some of the longest, still running, anime out there at the moment (Bleach around 170, One Piece around 350). When an anime is short(er) the buzz tends to die out rather fast (or doesn't start at all).
I read the manga for both and mainly started watching (and still watch) the anime because I got curious to see how they translated the manga into the anime. Content-wise, I have to say One Piece deserves the talk, while for Bleach I'm not sure. It might be because One Piece is situated in such an uncommon setting with decent thought-out characters that it appeals to me, but that could just as easily be my personal preference speeking. If you like silly humor together with some over the top weird powers combined with the occasional brawl, try One Piece. If you like 'frequent' sword-fights with some added 'super-powers' go for Bleach.
No just trying to meet new people! ^^
