So, I've been a fan of anime and manga for over 25 years. I'm a writer, sometime journalist, reviewer of many, many things, total self critic, radio presenter and producer, and co-creator and co-host of the UK's only live FM radio show dedicated to all things geek (which I've cunningly named The Geek Show so people won't confuse it with my other show, Literary Loitering).

We broadcast every Monday from 6-8 pm (GMT) on 104.5 FM in the local area, but you can listen live online. If you like what you hear, then you can download all of our previous episodes from our website.

You can also join our Facebook group, visit our club on My Anime List, or follow us on Twitter.

Some final points. If I ever write anything about an anime that pisses you off, deal with it. If you have valid, cogent arguments then I'm perfectly happy to discuss them with you in a constructive manner that's mutually beneficial, but I won't tolerate crass or rude behaviour, backbiting, etc, and I don't get involved in other people's fights.

Furthermore, if you're going to insult me at any time then be creative. It's not worth the effort otherwise and I'll just ignore you until you go away or wither into nothing.

One more thing. I definitely felt that there were some deep philosophical themes brought up in Kara no Kyoukai, but I don't think that I fully perceived them. Some of the ones I saw were: how much faith can one rightfully put in others, is it possible to be redeemed for one's sins, is suicide ever justifiable, does true love exist (I know this is a rather cliche one, but hey, it helps make the show well-rounded), what establishes one's existence in the world (is the existence of a physical body enough? I think of both the wheelchair girl from the first ep and the machine boy from ep 5), is killing ever justified, what is true strength of character, when does one having meaning in his/her life (the butterfly dragonfly analogy comes to mind), what is the nature of one's self (is it one's actions or thoughts or a combination; shiki is obsessed with the most part with killing but she never really kills a helpless person out of cold blood). Can you think of anything else? Can you see how most of the ones I listed arise? Anyway, thanks for your time!

Hey archaeon, I just finished Kara no Kyoukai about 2 weeks ago and was absolutely stunned by the show. However, I did not like the original ending, feeling that it did not focus enough on the philosophical undertones of the show. Which is why I really enjoyed the Epilogue. It ended the series in a dignified, quiet, and melancholy, but somehow still positive, way. Unfortunately, the people who I talk to on anime-planet don't really seem to appreciate the ending in the same way. Which is I why I want to thank you for writing your review on MyAnimeList defending the epilogue more eloquently than I could. Thanks!
