My brain's been working overtime lately, and especially today. I couldn't get it to shut off, so I turned to anime. Count of Monte Cristo would just make it worse, as would some of the other anime I'm watching.
So... I watched the latest Naruto Shippuden filler (I get them on a one week delay). This helped a bit. But it didn't completely cure me.
Next, I tried Toriko, an anime labeled as a "palette cleanser" in ThePatches's review. And wow, was I in for the ride of my life! This 28-minute episode abandons unnecessary things like plot and character development. Who needs such things when you can have over-the-top humor, crazy action, and a main character who defines the word "manly"?
The most thought-provoking line of the entire anime was: "If you have dreams, chase them. If you're hungry, you should eat," said as Toriko takes another giant bite of fish. No hidden meaning there. He's just hungry.
I repeat, most plot and all character development are boiled out to leave pure epicness concentrate. This is not for the weak of heart.
Toriko completely cured my worn out brain, and I'm now ready to get back to work. If anyone knows of a similar anime, please let me know!
