Ar Tonelico Sekai no Owari de Utai Tsuzukeru Shoujo

Feb 1, 2011

To be quite honest, despite it only being a one-episode OVA, I'm surprised I managed to get through it. My numbers may seem high based on that sentence, but I am trying to be fair and consider each aspect individually... It's going to be hard. This was really a waste of time, to be honest, but I'll try to be fair and unbiased in my review. Story: The story had the potential to be very interesting, since the concept of using songs to grant powers isn't all that common. Unfortunately, it really wasn't done well. At all. I know that this OVA isn't really so much related to the game, and so I hope the game is... See full review

Guilty Crown

Mar 23, 2012

It is terribly difficult not to compare this anime to Code Geass and Neon Gensis Evangelion, so in an effort to make this review completely neutral, I will only mention the above two animes right here, before I actually start breaking down my review scores: If Code Geass and Neon Genesis Evangelion had a love child, it would essentially be Guilty Crown. Now that I've said that I will attempt to act as though I haven't seen those anime, and will keep this review strictly focused on Guilty Crown as it's own anime. Also, this review has a few very minor spoilers, but large plot details will not be... See full review

Tales of the Abyss

Jan 31, 2011

Since Rickoon took the perspective of someone who HAS played the original game, allow me to begin by saying that I have not. Though, as someone who has played other games in the Tales franchise, I am used to the anime being somewhat of a disappointment, which is why I was so surprised that I enjoyed this anime as much as I did. As for my scores, allow me to explain each: Story: The story, while fundamentally your basic "group of heros saves the world" plot, had quite a unique spin to it that I found refreshing. Both the heros and the villans were acting in a way that they thought was right, and... See full review

Kiznaiver

Aug 23, 2018

For something that seemed fairly popular when it aired, and for someone who came to it later with decent expectations, I have to say, this one was... a pretty big letdown. This review is NOT SPOILER FREE, so if you haven't seen it yet, please bear that in mind before continuing. Story: The premise itself sounded neat - the idea that people could be linked together to share the pain of physical wounds, and possibly even emotional ones - but the story... Well, it does focus on that in a lot of ways, but it very quickly just sort of becomes very melodramatic and although the Kizna bonds are... See full review

Beyond the Boundary

Jan 7, 2014

This is one of my absolute favourites of last season, but... I was also really disappointed in it, in some ways. This is based off of having not read the light novels after which this anime was based, so please keep that in mind. Story: This is the part that I felt the most let down in. The story itself isn't particularly unique: ~girl with magical powers meets a boy who changes her world~ so basically your standard anime formula, only sometimes it's the other way around. Still, it manages to be a fun take on it, with the heroine being clumsy (but only for the first few episodes; consistancy isn't... See full review

Star Driver

Apr 25, 2013

So I actually finished this series about two weeks ago now, but I find I need to wait to give properly objective reviews, otherwise all I'll come up with is keysmash and fangirling. So, now that I've let it sit a bit, let's get started, shall we? Story: The story itself isn't anything new, honestly, as it has bad guys who want to destroy/take over the world, and a group of people who want to stop them. In that sense, Star Driver's basic plot is actually quite predictable, good guys always win, etc. However, the way in which Star Driver handles these problems and such is somewhat unique, introducing... Chrono Crusade

Feb 1, 2011

It's going to be hard for me to remember that this is a review for the ANIME, and it's gonna be even harder for me not to compare it too much to the manga. In fact, I'll probably go write a seperate review for the manga right after this, where this series will undoubtably recieve better scores- not because the anime is bad, the manga is just better. So, let's start by breaking it down: Story: The story is interesting and puts quite the unique twist on the whole "demon and contractor" story- the "contractor" in question is one Rosette Christopher, a nun. Yes, a nun. This unique... See full review
