You're alive! Huzzah!

Yes, Casca is wonderful, hence I plan to keep her as my avatar for a long, long time. I think she's overall a better role model than Yoko, anyway.

As for PSME, maaaaaaaan that was such a lucky find. It has arrived at home in the UK and my sister has yet to rifle through the books to check they're in okay condition. But getting that has made me really hungry for deals. I've been scouring the internet for rarities (bought Otomo's 'Domu' and 'Legend of Mother Sarah') and the next two things I really, really want are Tezuka's 'Swallowing the Earth' and Mori's 'Emma'. They're both super expensive everywhere, so if you happen to come across a deal, give me a shout.

In the meantime, I'm now reviewing for AUKN as well. I'll be reviewing PSME at some point down the line. Also, NG Life is on my list to buy from September (oh yeah, I have a list!). So you know I didn't ignore your recommendations - just that these things take time to buy.

As for my current reads, Drifting Classroom giving me a lot of horror fun. Lord of the Flies but grotesque. It's got not tween romance in it, so I'm unsure you'd enjoy it. But if you ever feel like despairing about the human race some more, do check it out. Oh, an PS. don't watch Kanon (2006). Utter shite.

I am simply too enamoured of Cross Game to have thought much about Touch recently, hence the rating's stayed the same since I started watching it.

I disagree that the audience doesn't get to form an emotional connection to CG's characters. I adore Aoba and Azuma, and Kou to a lesser degree. They may not change dramatically, but they do flesh out more from one episode to the next. We discover new facets in them rather than watching them change their minds or bad people suddenly turning good or whatever. And all the personalities are brushed with the sweet lacquer of humour. They fit their narrative well and the baseball is damn exciting.

I am grateful that you so openly and desperately offer your advice on all these shows, but if us disagreeing on a series or two is enough to make you retract it, then it can't have been as kindly intententioned as I thought.

And my brain is a densely-celled, efficiently compact organ, while yours looks bigger because every gaping hole is padded with cotton wool. You are no competition.

I'm still over the moon about Cross Game and don't see that fact changing. I get jittery just thinking about Short Program being on its way into my greedy hands. And yes, we acknowledge that Wakaba is annoying, but since you were only pointing out the obvious, please don't take it as some kind of validation of your views in general. At episode 12, Touch has already made me stall because of the current run of slice-of-life tales minus the characterisation. I hate slice-of-life (mostly). Cross Game, on the other hand, has not once made me pause or question in thirty episodes. Seemingly, Adachi only improved over time like good wine and I admit I'm in love with his style.

"PS: Why would you PAY to spend time around sweaty fat people, and have awkward conversations about ani-may?"

Because I am hoping real-life anime nerds will be able to converse better than online anime nerds, who mostly wouldn't know how to discuss entertainingly and at substantial length if someone gave them the idiot proof instruction booklet to do so. Also, none of my friends are where I am living so I need to make new ones, and I can't think of a better place to search than at an anime convention. Can you? Yeah, didn't think so.

Also, aren't you one of those fat, sweaty, awkward people? I'd have thought you'd enjoy being among your kind.
