I loved the first 1/2 of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! Loved it! I loved it so much I recommended it to my boyfriend who loves wacky high school comedies. Absolutely fantastic - can't fault it. I watched it when I was ill and watched it with my cat and any time I could find... and then... The Endless Eight episodes.
Oh... dear... GOD! So boring! I don't understand the appeal at all.
Sometimes I tend to hold back my opinions because I'm afraid that they are stupid. I know, that's a bit of a silly thing to do but honestly, I think that this is just a bit too far. I can understand 3 episodes of the same. 4 at a push but no more. And there's eight?
Is it some groundbreaking technique that's actually really clever and interesting that I am completely missing the point of? Should I try and keep my mind open and watch the rest? I don't know. It just seems a little too weird, to have just... eight(!) episodes of exactly the same thing.
Apparently the ending isn't all that strong either, so I think I'm going to be quite content with dropping this series and moving on to something a little more... me.
I'm not really a huge fan of the high school stuff anyway. I'd much rather get into some other type of comedy, away from the school setting, or a good chunky mystery. This... well, this has just completely overstayed its welcome in my mind.
My extremely open mind.
Wow.
